Move over Bowtucks - I have a new favorite totebag pattern

The pattern comes from "The Quilt Magazine's" April 2010 issue. When I saw sewsewquilter's post here http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...e-t162675.html I knew I just had to make the bag..

Move over "Bowtucks bag" because I think this Daytripper bag is going to be my new favorite totebag pattern. I love love love the scooped pocket....I was going to make a prototype bag to make sure I liked it but I decided to dig right into my precious batiks and made one up....

Do you have a favorite totebag pattern?

I like it too. Love the fabric.

Thanks for sharing the photo of your bag...it's GREAT! Although I would be proud to carry any bowtucks bag, I think yours is more sophisticated and an updated style. For myself, I would not put the bows on my bowtuck. I guess I'm just not that girlie. :)

hperttula123 12-11-2011 04:46 PM

Oh, I like that one. I don't use patterns anymore. I started with bow-tucks and just kept changing them to my liking. Adding more quilting, different handles and hardware. Now, my purses don't look like bow tucks at all anymore. :)

athomenow 12-11-2011 04:49 PM

I've been looking for another bag to add to my Bow Tuck line so I think I'll have to try this one. Thanks for sharing.

Your bag is very pretty, and you should be very proud of it. I would be, but I will always be a bow tucks girl.

It is beautiful. personally I did not like Bow Tucks and could not figure out what all the hoopla was about., I love this bag, it has a real classy look to it

I am a sucker for a tote bag. That one is really sharp. I'll have to see about getting my hands on that magazine issue now. Very nice :) I can see why you like yours so much!

kacklebird 12-12-2011 04:00 AM

Does the inside have pockets? If so, do you mind showing a pic of it?

knlsmith 12-12-2011 04:06 AM

Love your colors. I wonder if the pattern is for sale on its own? (Sorry if been asked. Didn't read all post since I'm on my phone)

Nanaquilts44 12-12-2011 04:09 AM

What a great bag! I think it's a winner.

Wannasew 12-12-2011 04:12 AM

Love this pattern. I love tote bags, especially with a lot of pockets. :)

littlebitoheaven 12-12-2011 06:26 AM

I love this bag! It is beautiful and I also like the scooped side. Very, very nice! Just FYI - a friend of mine who asked me to make a tote for her with some vintage fabric she gave me was disappointed because the straps were too short for her to carry her bag on her shoulder. Personally, I love these straps. But it is a thought. Yolanda Wood River

Such a beautiful bag! And out of Batik's also! I'm going to have to try this one too! My bow tuck is the perfect size for shows and weekends away and this one looks close. Thanks for sharing

annthreecats 12-12-2011 06:32 AM

Next time someone asks you to sew a tote, have them hold their bag where they want it to "rest" and then measure from one point on the bag over there shoulder, to the bag again. then add an inch or so for the seam allowance. Works well when you're sewing for others!!!

amandasgramma 12-12-2011 06:53 AM

I'm trying to find the pattern, too...........So far I've found hundreds of ideas where to go on DAY TRIPS!!!!

Pink Dogwood 12-12-2011 06:57 AM
