Looks like a super job from here. And since the one you made it for, loves it, that's really all that matters. Thanks for sharing.

buddy'smom 07-06-2011 05:21 AM

Awesome job.

Kappy 07-06-2011 05:42 AM

The man wants what the man wants...it's a very nice quilt! I'm not sure why "they" think scrolls and swirls are girly things but they do, bless their little hearts! Mine just said, "no flowers, I don't care how small they are!" LOL He repeated it several times, no flowers, you'd think he thought I wasn't listening...

lorimax5859 07-06-2011 05:55 AM

Absolutely beautiful!

kacy 49 07-06-2011 06:08 AM

Great job. Love your quilting. I know hubby will love it too.

babyboomerquilter 07-06-2011 06:10 AM

Great job! Very Masculine!

peacequiltingnana 07-06-2011 06:27 AM

Your quilting looks great and I can see why a man would love this quilt. I learned several years ago not to ask people for input on any quilt I might be making for them. I do my best work when it's something I like and it's really hard for me to do my best work on something I don't enjoy.

jeannie t 07-06-2011 06:36 AM

very manly looking great quilt!

I wasn't even going to use scrolls or feathers. I had planned to do leaves. I don't think they are femmy and the quilt is covered in them. I can do them free hand.

caspharm 07-06-2011 07:11 AM

Looks good to me and he's happy with it.

I was supposed to make my first quilt for DH as a thank you for insisting I buy my LA. I ended up making it for his cousin's wife who had terminal cancer. So this my second. I planned to do an elaborate design for a beginner but when I showed it to him he said he didn't want any of that frilly stuff. I asked "what frilly stuff?" and he said "those triangles and squares." Then he proceeded to describe a panel with borders around it and just straight lines for the quilting. Since the panels are in a square I had to adapt the design to make a rectangle as it is for his bunk on his semi. I thought crosshatching would be great until I attempted it. There are so many mistakes. Thank you to the person on a previous post who puts rubber cement on her ruler. You saved my sanity. When in the middle, he informs me that he just wanted horizontal lines across it. How boring is that? These pictures are as it came off the LA. I still have some ripping out to do. I will post a finished picture with the matching pillow cases when I finish. I'm not proud of this, my second quilt but accept it as a learning tool. DH loves it though.

Sure looks good to me. I haven't tried straight lines on the LA yet. I am getting pretty good at meandering. The interesting thing I find is that people who don't know anything about Long Arms are quite impressed with my squiggles. I figure as long as I continue hanging around them and not quilting experts I will do just fine. Keep up the good work :!: :P :-D :P :-D

I love it! And if he loves it, that's what's important. It's so nice that he had so much input into the quilt. Not all men care!

Your quilt is very nice and the crosshatching is also very nice for this quilt. It's what he wanted and he'll just love it for his truck.

Homemother 07-06-2011 08:24 AM

Aren't you a sweetheart for trying so hard to make something your DH happy? Great job!!!

What a guy quilt!!!! I mentioned putting rubber cement on my ruler in frustration awhile back...don't know if it was my post that you saw, but glad it works for you. Since I rubbed off the cement (it got too fuzzy after a couple of years) I am now trying adhesive-backed sandpaper dots that I got as a door prize during shop hop. They work very well! (And if you can't find them, some small squares of fine sandpaper glued on with rubber cement would work fine!)

Quilter54 07-06-2011 11:16 AM

My hubby would love it too!

Chris Kieffer 07-06-2011 12:40 PM

WOW!!! It looks great! I have a lot of that same fabric to surprise my husband with his own quilt for Christmas! Hope mine looks half as nice as yours! ;)

Tweety2911 07-06-2011 12:44 PM

You both did a great job and you are both happy. That's what it's all about! Loving your quilt(s).
I look forward to seeing the finished quilt with the pillow cases. :-)

It's on page 3 of this post and there's another on page 4. Thank you all for your wonderful comments

I've made a couple of quilts that I did not like; but the person who wanted it, loved it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. BTW, I could see my brother or my son loving that quilt!

Wow!! I have a dear panel quilt I started for a dear friend. I like your design also. Here is a copy of my layout.

RobertaMarie 07-06-2011 04:33 PM

Beautiful quilt. Give the man credit for knowing what he wants. Mine loves the "geometric" designs with squares, triangles, etc. I think you did a great job. The one by UPNORTH is very pretty too. As are the others pictured. Working on panel quilts can be a bit difficult sometimes, (I know)......
Your DH is pretty nice too. Better keep him. :)
Thanks for sharing your nice work.

You did a marvelous job, and the white thread looks great

Thank you to everyone for your feedback today. I really enjoyed the comments and really appreciate the encouragement. I'm on to my next quilt and it's definitely an easier design and going smoothly. Selena
