After purchasing the flimsy plastic thread holder for the cone-type spools of thread at JoAnn's, I got to thinking... This is what my DH and I came up with. All he had to do was add a "screw-type eye ring" to the back of the snowman mug tree that no one wanted to buy at my garage sale (thank goodness). It is sturdy and whimsical at the same time. It works so well - I am doing a happy dance!!! (and I got my money back at JoAnn's).

Very, very clever. Great transformation. What a wonderful way to repurpose something you were going to get rid of. Thank you for sharing this great tip.

That is brilliant! It is fascinating what we can do when we actually let our imagination and invention brain waves work together. Thank you for sharing.

I also made a similar one out of a wooden paper towel holder I found at a garage sale for $.75!

That idea is nothing short of brilliant. It's a wonderful idea!

You both need to pat yourselves on the back.

I use a table base from my kids Lego set for the same purpose. Creativitity at it's best.

I used a metal Christmas hanging ornament stand for my cones.
