Probably most everyone has heard of this campaign to make just one star to be sewn into a quilt for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. I am the daughter of a career Marine who was himself a WWII and Vietnam vet. There's a special place in my heart for soldiers.

This went together so quick and easy. If you haven't done one, I encourage you to do so. You can find the info at:

http://www.unitednotions.com/LA_just_one_star.pdf

It looks dark in this picture! It's actually more cream colored.

It's great. I'm without power right now due to a big storm (I have a small generator) and will get some made next week when life returned to normal around here.

Just downloaded the info. I'll start when I get home from work.

I've done 8 so far. One for each family member who served in the military. As soon as I find a brown pen I can finish them and get them sent off.

I've seen those Pigma pens at Michael's. But I got a set from Amazon. They're great for tracing embroidery designs.

Couldn't find the pigma pen at Joann's will any brown fabric pen do?

My husband was a Marine in the Korean War. He was wounded and received a purple heart and several different service medals. I love the idea of making the quilts for service men. I made 3 blocks yesterday and 2 today. I'll try to get them in the mail tomorrow.

Just make sure it won't bleed on fabric. I wonder if it should be acid free, which a pigma pen is.

Great star, great program, thank you for sharing

Thank you for sharing this info. I be sure to make at least one and will ask at my quilting group. I am sure I can get a few others to pledged at least one.

Thank you so much for sharing. I have challenged both the quilt groups I belong to, if they make the stars I will ship them all out together.... I have a soft spot in my heart for soldiers as well. My daughter is in the Army and my brother just deployed again. Thank you.

OOO I sure hope I can make this. I want to do this so badly. My Son was in the Navy for a few years. My Heart goes out to the many Men and Women who fight for our freedom. Thanks so much for sharing this. Hugs Blossom

Did you sign them?

My quilt group is also making blocks. I don't have the correct pen to sign them so some one is bringing one next week so we can sign all of ours.

I think this is a great idea for all quilters to get involved in. I made and signed 5 and put them in the mail
yesterday. I would be glad to make more if needed. They were easy to make. I have great admiration for the person or persons involved in getting the blocks put together and getting them quilted.

God Bless our troops and God Bless America !!!!

Yes, we signed them. And we (actually my daughter) print labels on Printed Treasures for the backs of all of our quilts. There's a cat logo on hers and a carousel horse on mine. I am practically computer illiterate so she does anything involving the computer for me. She sent these pictures for me.

The deadline for the stars is May 1. I sent in eight at the beginning of this week. I put all the grand children’s first name and state on them, plus one for a star from me.
