Still in pattern format.... I've started cutting out and made one block just so I can see the colours working together.

And they are stunning! :-) (said with total modesty of course!)

This is the fabric for the border and the very centre star. I've had this for a long time, never knew what to do with it but always loved it. Have simply pulled each colour out for the rest of the quilt, in moda marbles mainly, with one handspray.

This is the pattern, the background pink is a little softer than it appears, but the other colours are fairly accurate. Very strong bold colours.

I really like that, one day I would like to be able to do quilts like that.

BlueChicken 06-22-2009 06:01 PM

Yikes, that second photo is horrible! Far far too big and too close. sorry!

This shows the colours as being a bit duller, I can't win! :-)

The moda marbles are the exact colours in the mottled fabric. I also have the very light green, and the very dark purple, they're here somewhere. May add those in a thin border.

Rhonda 06-22-2009 06:15 PM

So if you used no diamonds how do you piece it?

Rhonda 06-22-2009 06:17 PM

Never mind I just went back and looked and I see the HSTs now. I have used this in a smaller design but never actually made one yet.

Yours is very stunning indeed!

BlueChicken 06-22-2009 06:18 PM

It's all half square triangles. It's very clever! :-)

BlueChicken 06-22-2009 06:19 PM

Oops.. posted at the same time.

Yep, all hst. :-)

tlrnhi 06-22-2009 06:19 PM

That is going to be REALLY pretty!

BlueChicken 06-22-2009 06:24 PM

It's gunna be bright! lol

Rhonda 06-22-2009 06:26 PM

Blue Chicken how big are your triangles? I tend to like the country prints and don't lean toward the marbles and batiks. I wondered how yours turned out within each piece. How does each indivuidual triangle look?

I am finding it harder and harder to find the country tiny prints and have resisted using hand dyed type cottons but I may have to experiment with them.

I don't know if this makes sense but because I do such small stuff I have to keep in mind what is left in the square after it is all done. Is there any print or design to see? or is it all one color with nothing interesting to see.

The blocks are 9 inches finished. I tried making them smaller but it would have been quite fiddly and the end result would be quite small too.

This is a piece of the centre star.

Oops... it's upside down! lol

Can hardly wait to see the finished product.

I love your colours. This quilt is going to be spectacular. Great work and looking eagerly to seeing more pictures.

Rhonda 06-22-2009 07:10 PM

Thanks for the closeup Blue Chicken!

gaigai 06-22-2009 09:00 PM

Blue, I love the focus fabric, and how you've matched it so well. The quilt is going to be spectacular. Can't wait to see it finished!

BlueChicken 06-22-2009 10:09 PM

I can't wait either! lol

I couldn't figure out how to use the focus fabric without cutting it too small, and it wasn't till I saw a medallion quilt in a magazine that it clicked... the focus could be the border and the inside could be the coordinating colours. Then when I saw pam's version (which was stunning) it all just clicked.

I have quite a few projects I "have" to get done, and this is my "want". So when I'm feeling stuck and unmotivated, I'm doing just one block of this to get motivated again. And then putting it aside to finish the ones I have to do. So it will be a while :-)

SulaBug 06-22-2009 10:35 PM

sandpat 06-23-2009 04:24 AM

girlfriend, you go right ahead and brag, that is an awesome combination and pattern, woo hoo! Don't you just love it, when both come together, and you get all excited about a project?
Glad things are better for ya, my clackety friend

Mousie 06-23-2009 05:16 AM

Btw, do you have the name of the pattern? AND,
LOL,...are we there yet?

k3n 06-23-2009 05:23 AM

Blue's gone to bed! Middle of the night down under. I think the pattern is the same as Pam made 'no diamonds and I think there's a link in her thread - but then you know what thought did - followed a muck cart and thought it was a wedding!

pittsburgpam 06-23-2009 05:47 AM

That's going to be awesome! Love the bright colors, Blue.

You'll be done in a week, right?

CajunQuilter2 06-23-2009 05:47 AM

the colors are beautiful, i love purple so anything with that color I like. Add some gold and it would be a perfect Mardi Gras quilt.

Ducky 06-23-2009 05:49 AM

Wow. OMG, Blue, that is just gorgeous!!! Wow. I love your fabric choice. Did I say Wow?

Debbie1 06-23-2009 05:51 AM

It's gorgeous! I love it absolutely stunning!

nana2 06-23-2009 05:57 AM

I do really love these colors. Is the darkest color the dark purple?? It appears to be black which would be great also. I seem to notice that a lot of patterns seem to just pop with the smallest touch of black. Thank you for sharing this work.
