Today was half-price day at the Salvation Army. I found lots of goodies but this sewing machine made my day!!! It is in excellent condition for its age. I am guessing it was made in the 60's. It felt super heavy so we weighed it. It weighs a whopping 40.8lbs!!!

Great find! Love the graphics on the book cover!

Nice machine! Great sale, and I know you will love sewing with it. I have never heard of Universal brand. It is Japanese, so imagine it to be kinda like an older clone of Juki.
Enjoy it! Ronda |

The books are such a blast from the past! I am getting a kick out of "Adventures in Sewing". It is old but has some great tips in it.

Beautiful....bet this sews like a dream. I have an old 1950's Pinnock (made in Australia) and it is an absolute treasure. It knocks spots off my 20 year old Singer and can sew through anything.

What a find! But, having purchased my very first sewing machine in the 60's ( yes, I'm that old ), think it's older than the 60's. Do the books that came with it have any dates in them? I'm thinking late 40's to 50's. It's just a guess.

boy she is in good shape....the wiring looks almost new. she will never wear out LOL...

Ah, memories. I had a machine - a Brother - that looked like this one. And it served me well. Hope this one serves you too.
|
What a find!! Even though I told myself no more machines I couldn't have passed that one up. I have one that has the same case only mine is a Household.
|
The older Japanese machines are awesome. They sew beautifully. You did good!
