What a brave lady to make any quilt pattern that has triangles in silk fabric! It's beautiful, it just glows. Did you think about using silk batting?
I have silk sitting here now to do a pattern that is nothing but squares and rectangles. I also have a special thread and needle and lightweight fusible fusible interfacing. All I need is the courage to take that first step. |
Beautiful. I love all of the bright colors. You did a fantastic job. Thanks for the pattern.
|
I love that block. So many variations from it. Yours is a good choice. I saw one made in blues, greens and white. Gorgeous!

All I need is the courage to take that first step. I did look into silk batting, but decided on the bamboo for a few reasons. It worked well for me. I do all my own quilting at home on my Bernina and didn't have any trouble. Good Luck to you and please post your work when you can. |
Beautiful; thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much~ seeing that simple pattern just puts me in awe at how it all adds up to a grand design. Up close those brights look like Silk.

Maine lady, Did you connect two triangles to a sq to make second block and are all the blocks the same size? Sorry this may be a stupid question but I love the colors and want to try this. Thanks,Georgia

Beautiful quilt.

What was it like to work with silk? Was it slippery? Did you use silk thread? And what batting did you use? Can it be washed or dry cleaned?
Thanks for showing us this stunning quilt. I have a small box of silks and I take the lid off and stroke the fabrics once in a while! Quite intimidated, in case you couldn't guess! Thanks again. |

Thanks for showing us this stunning quilt. I have a small box of silks and I take the lid off and stroke the fabrics once in a while! Quite intimidated, in case you couldn't guess! Thanks again. I've answered some of these questions earlier, but here's a breakdown. I used aurafil ( sp?) thread for it. Bamboo batting, and I haven't washed it, but if I needed to I would hand wash it gently with quilt washing soap. I would never dry clean a quilt. Some of the silks are more slippery than others, but I didn't have a problem. The biggest problem is with the raveling, that's one reason for the fusible interfacing. You really should try sewing with it and see. It's not hard and you'll love the results. Happy Sewing! |
Beautiful!!

The quilt is fantastic. Vibrant colors are my favorites. How hard was it working with silk? Did it fray a lot?
|
Love the vibrant colours.
