Update - just done the centre row! Hoorah! Celebrating by stopping for lunch. It's 1.30pm here. The piece is starting to bow a bit then I realised I wasn't alternating the direction I sewed the rows on. THEN I remembered that when I was first doing it, I used my Acufeed (Janome walking foot) even to make the strip sets, and they didn't bow at all. SO will change feet after lunch. Fascinating stuff eh?! LOL

I give you credit for even trying one of these. The book I just got recently has a bargello pattern but it's telling me to ;put it together differently. I heard of the sleeve method. Is that what you are doing? Or are you following a block by block assembly pattern.?

I had to make several different strip sets then I'm sub cutting these, taking individual blocks out and adding others in here and there. It's fairly straightforward, just fiddly. :-D

Just keep plugging away on it and it'll be put together before you realize it. Then you can get back to your Floral Fantasy OBW.

Thanks SO much everyone! I'm stopping for the day, it's 6.30pm here and ppl want feeding! Up to row 35 of 55 and finished the last one at an inch wide - all the rest are wider! You can see where it started to bow a bit at the bottom. Since I started using the Acufeed foot, it's straight again. Hopefully, I can block that part into submission! I like how the red diamond section is developing...

quiltstodo 01-27-2011 10:45 AM

That is really coming out beautiful.

Jan T 01-27-2011 11:33 AM

It does look like tiny pieces. It will truly be a work of art when it is done. Stay with it, you will be proud when you've sewn the last bit of binding down.

NAG NAG NAG! Consider yourself nagged! It's too beautiful to stop now. I know how you feel. I made a twisted bargello as my first quilt and thought I had LOST MY MIND! But I LOVE IT and you will love yours!

Shemjo 01-27-2011 04:46 PM

Oh my! You are an inspiration! Love that even YOU have moments like that, when you aren't ready to move on and COMPLETE that dern thing. I have bargellos on my bucket list! I am going to have to live to be waaaaaay old to finish even half of everyhing on my list.
