My barn is falling down so I painted this one. My DH put a frame on it and graciously allowed me to hang it on the garage wall. The name of the block is "Directors Dream". Hope you like it as much as I do!

I think that is great! I want to do this ---- no barn.

shawnemily 06-06-2011 10:45 AM

It is beautiful!!!

Cool! I may have to do one for my backyard. Meditteranian style house just doesn't seem the right "fit" for a barn quilt. But I'm sure I can find a place in my backyard on the fence or something.

I love it,

You did a wonderful job on painting the block and framing it. I am working on a crazy quilt for the front of my house.Moosegirl

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. It took several weeks but was well worth it. When I drive into the driveway it presents a WOW factor! Sorry, had to brag a little!

Great job. I want to hang one of these on my garage as well. This is inspiration to get started. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful barn block/quilt. One of the prettiest I've seen.

thequilterslink 06-06-2011 01:24 PM

Very nice, love it!

I've been thinking of doing this on the side of my shed, but I was going to paint it on the shed itself. Do people normally paint it on the shed/barn itself or on another piece of wood and hang it on the barn?
When I was a kid, the people down the street had a whole Amish scene painted on their garage door. Went by the other day,35 yrs later it's still there.

Hey, where is it said that they have to be hung on barns...why don't we start a House Block. We can paint a reasonable size square of wood hang it on the front of our house. I think I shall do just that. I spot above the garage doors would work just perfect. How about anyone else???

Ok I guess I better get started since I thought up this thing. Do you know what pattern you are going to do?

hikingquilter 06-07-2011 03:44 AM

Wow! Great job!

TacoMama 06-07-2011 03:47 AM

I love it, too. Where in TN do you live? I might just have to drive "up" and see it.....not realy, but I love to see barns with the quilt patterns on them and I saw one the other day when I was in Middle Tennessee last week. It was pretty neat!

emsgranny 06-07-2011 04:45 AM

I would love the pattern for an actual quilt lol Great job!!! Cheryl :-)
