Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 07:30 AM

Thank you, I appreciate your response. I am a new member, as you have probably guessed, trying to find my way around this site. I have enjoyed viewing so many other quilters treasures that I thought someone might like to see mine.

eann 03-18-2012 07:34 AM

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 07:46 AM

:o It was fun traveling to several fabric stores to find those beautiful fabric colors. I'm glad you liked the colors. Thanks!

Beautiful quilt with great colors and quilting!

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 08:04 AM

This quilt was time consuming because of the way I wanted it to look. It was the third quilt that I have ever made, too. Thank you so much for noticing.

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 08:06 AM

My son was pleased with how it turned out.

Lori S 03-18-2012 08:08 AM

What great colors! I love the radiant look!

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 08:13 AM

I would like to thank each and everyone of you who took the time to send nice comments about my recently finished quilt. I appreciate the encouragement. I'm currently designing a Mich. State quilt for my other son who recently finished his masters at MS.

faykilgore 03-18-2012 08:24 AM

I love the colors. Is the pattern original?

NIICHMOM 03-18-2012 08:50 AM

It's beautiful and full of depth

Halo 03-18-2012 08:55 AM

It is totally beautiful. I really love it. Of course, my favorite color is orange. It looks to be a complicated pattern but a very nice blend of fabrics. You done awesome girl.

cjackaitlin 03-18-2012 11:06 AM

sandybuttons 03-18-2012 11:30 AM

MMMMM makes my mouth water, it looks so yummy :)

barb55 03-18-2012 11:33 AM

Did you do it in satin? I don't think I could learn how to do that. To me it looks like it took a long tme to make. Beautiful, love the colors.

dunster 03-18-2012 11:39 AM

What I see is gorgeous, mouth watering, beautiful photography as well as beautiful fabric and design, but I'm having trouble figuring out the scale. Can we see the whole quilt, pretty please with carmel latte on it?

azwendyg 03-18-2012 12:51 PM

I'd love to read the history of your decision making, pattern; where will you put it?
A real treat,

Awesome!!!

Lady Jane 03-18-2012 02:40 PM

It's like one is looking at the sun.

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 06:23 PM

The center blocks started from a pattern but I soon discovered I had too much wasted material. That was when I had to rethink and redesign. So I guess you could say that it's an original.

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 06:31 PM

Thanks for the nice analogy.

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 06:43 PM

The combined fabric colors was fun to pick out.

NatalieMacDonald 03-18-2012 06:49 PM

Wow!! It looks like fire. I'm really drawn into it.

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 06:52 PM

No, I did not do it in satin. It's all cotton fabrics. This is the third quilt that I have ever made and it was a little more difficult and took longer than the first two quilts.

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 06:57 PM

The various medium fabric colors did bring life to this quilt.

That's exactly what I thought, too! This is spectacular!

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 07:23 PM

It's a generous lap size quilt 76 1/2 "x 76 1/2". I used about 90 fat quarters of various shades ( cream, tan, mediums, dark brown, finishing with blacks. Various widths are cut and sewn to accomodate a 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" template. I believe you are seeing most of the quilt, but I will try to add another picture if I'm allowed. The backing color is a rich batik brown.

Sandra Cross 03-18-2012 07:36 PM

Thank you! The combined colors of fabrics really added life to the quilt.
