I hosted the original Funky Chicken swap...if you would like to organize one...please feel free to use the information that I used for the swap...It all worked out perfectly! And it was a TON of fun!! You will need to check with Patrice/Admin prior to posting any swap though... If I can help, let me know!!

rrreally like the chicken wire material not sure i have ever seen it but is there such material design of say corn? Isnt that what chicken eat. Or even hay. Also be cute with the old typed red plaid tablecloth material the burgandy snall border then chicken wire is my vote you will have to show when complete

I love your chickens

THUD!!!
So cute! I recognise a few of those chickens - Love the lanky chook in the middle. I've a chookie quilt I made using the fatcat patterns last easter (my first quilt), and I'm waiting for my blocks to come back from a small chicken patch exchange (i'm the only aussie in the swap)
This is delightful.
In my inexperienced opinion, yes, you do need a dark border to enclose your chickens and then I like the idea of a wider border of chicken wire (to keep them safe from foxes) and a darker binding. I'm not sure about the burgundy, but until I saw the colours in the flesh could not make that colour choice. That is so ... wonderful, brings a smile to your face.
Along with the rest of us, I'd love to see the finished product!

I agree with the others, the burgundy first and then the chicken wire! And the Rooster/chicken quilt blocks are so niffty! I love them!

I like the burgandy 1st. Love your quilt; looks like it was a great swap.

susiequilt 05-07-2010 05:36 PM

Thanks everyone. It's still hanging on the wall for a while until I get to it. I did audition some black and I think I like that better.
Maybe black then wire then burgundy or more black for the binding.

sandpat 05-08-2010 04:41 AM

Whatever you decide on Susie will be the right thing...be sure to show us though, I just love looking at the chicken quilts!

Love it! I need to make 5 or 6 more blocks for mine. Did buy the sashing material. Maybe next week. I loved this swap. My very first. Now involved in 3 swaps. It grows on you.

This chicken quilt is so cute! My DSIL would die to have it. We just got back from a cruise with them and she collects chickens from every where she goes and also takes pics of them. We went on our excursions and had to chase down the wild chickens to get their pics, I'm sure the tour guide and other people thought we were crazy, but oh well you have to know my DSIL!!!! It sure was fun!

Your chicken quilt is so cute, wish it was mine.
