I was so excited to hear that my guild was starting a chicken block exchange! But now I'm not sure I'll remain in it. I spent 2 days on each of my 2 (original designs) blocks. One of the blocks I received in exchange might have taken all of 10 minutes to make and the other an hour. I was really disappointed and now I'm not sure how much effort I should put into future blocks, or if I should remain in the exchange. What are your thoughts please?

I think all of us here on the board understand that there are all levels in a swap. (It's required here). The beginners do what they can and the advanced do what they can. If everyone does their best you end up with a great quilt. It gives the more advanced quilters a chance to show their stuff and help the beginners with advise and suggestions. It gives the beginners a chance to see what a really well made block looks like and hopefully learn something for the next swap we are in.
I love the swaps here. I'm sure I will never get too good to swap with beginners!
The key is everyone does their best!
Not knowing your group it's hard to say whether you should stay in or not. how do you feel about teaching? Maybe at a meeting you could talk about chicken blocks and how to do what you do.
:-D

Like some of the ones who spoke up, I would like for those of us who missed out on this one to have a 2nd Funky chicken swap...What do you all think? Are there enough of us to make it work? who sets up the swaps? What do you guys think?

I LOVE your chicken quilt!!! Where did you find all those chicken patterns? Do you share this info? I would LOVE them!

This was a swap so I only made a few of those chickens and the other ladies made the rest.
There are a lot of free chicken patterns on the net. Fatcat is one of them. Do a search and see what comes up.

As for another funky chicken swap, start a new post and see if there is any interest. I know there was one chicken swap last year also. It has been a lot of fun and my first quilt with various size blocks so a good learning experience.

Thanks. I can't wait to see yours. There wasn't one chicken I didn't like! It was a wonderful swap.
