My Christmas gift finally has a home
 

My dear children gave me a barn quilt for Christmas... they made it themselves. I have wanted one for ever. They are very popular in rural Iowa. It is finally nice enough here in Iowa that my hubby put it up yesterday.

Here in Nebraska they haven't caught on yet. I have the wood cut for mine and am waiting for nicer weather to paint outside. I think mine will be a star of some sort.

It is beautiful! What good kids you have. Looks really good an your barn. I always look for them when we travel. They are popular around the Pennyrile area of Kentucky.

That is very pretty! My friend has a barn and she quilts. However, she has no desire at this point in time to put one up. I want one for her. I know though that it's not my barn. :(

Sew put it on the side of your house if you have a place for one. If my room ever gets done there will be one on the side of my house.

Very pretty barn block! I have seen lots of barn quilts around Iowa. They add a pop of color to the country side.

I love your barn quilt. My barn quilt will about that same size. I have a 24" square piece of wood I purchased from Lowes. I still have to prime and get my screws. Mine is going up on my wooden fence in my backyard so I can see it all the time.

I am extremely jealous, haven't got DH convinced that I NEED one yet, maybe someday. What considerate kids you have, they did a great job. (I know, I'll get my kids to make me one then he will feel it has to be hung up.) Hmmm now there's a thought. LOL

How nice of your kids! We have a lot of farms in the are where I am, and many many quilters but I've never seen a barn quilt except in pictures.

I love it. I want one, I don't have a barn, but I plan to put one on my garage door.

Question: Are the barn quilts painted on one piece of board? Or are they individual pieces of wood put together? I assumed they were painted on wood,,,,,but maybe not. What a wonderful gift your children have made for you-and I love the fact that you can view it every single day. These are popular in Ohio, too.

The barn quilt is so pretty, I see them as we travel all over the states. I don't have a barn but am tempted to put one on the front of my garage. Not sure the neighbors would like it. Enjoy your's .
