I found this on Craigslist last night and I called about it. The gal was so sweet and just wanting to get rid of it. It had been their moms. So I went to get it today and I am so excited. It's a Husqvarna Viking. Lots of bells and whistles. I really did not need another machine, but this was too good to pass up. She also threw in anything she thought was related to sewing, all packed in the cute bag on the right of the picture. There was lots of thread and a nice pair of scissors. Well, you can see. Some is not really sewing stuff, but still great. I will need more bobbins, but I can get those. I just found an online manual so I think I am good to go.

Oh, and the best part! All for only 25 bucks! Can you believe it? I love my old machines, I really do, but this is fun too.

What a haul, enjoy your new find.

cherylynne 09-22-2010 05:39 PM

Wow, really nice. The thread and the sicssors could be worth $25.00.

Katia 09-22-2010 05:46 PM

It looks like there is a crack on the front, that curved line. I think that was just flash, there is no crack. I"ve already sewn a little on it to make sure it works and seems fine. I think I need to read the manual before I do too much. Don't want to mess it up. But it sounded really good. A quality machine just has that sound that a cheapy will never have.

I agree though that there is never too many machines. The ones in cabinets make great end tables, and are just beautiful pieces of art.

The quilter who has the most machines wins!!!!!!!!!!Yea for you. What a deal. I want a Viking so bad I can almost taste it. I just can't afford one. Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NewYearsOld 09-22-2010 07:06 PM

Wow! Did you ever get a great buy! I have my mom's Husqvarna Viking, Lily 550. My mom has been gone 6 years, and I know my dad had bought it for her, used, at a LQS at least 6 years before that, for well over $1,000. Months after my mom died, when I started quilting, I asked my Dad if I could borrow it, and I just never returned it. :) I think he is glad I am using it though. Mom had already given one of my sisters her Singer, and the other sister her Elna (spelling?)

sewingladydi 09-22-2010 08:15 PM

That's a HUGE score! Good for you

purplefiend 09-22-2010 08:18 PM

sandilee 09-23-2010 01:04 AM

wow....$25! I must start frequenting these online sales.

congratulations. Its was a steal!

katier825 09-23-2010 01:12 AM

Awesome deal on a fantastic machine! I had the 400 model for 16 years and loved it! When it finally stopped working, I decided to replace rather than repair. I do miss it though. It wasn't the least bit tempermental, worked great no matter what brand of thread. I'm sure you'll be happy with it!

You can get the bobbins on eBay or online for less than the Viking store inside of Joann's.

SueDor 09-23-2010 02:23 AM

$25.00 well spent.

katlady 09-24-2010 05:49 AM

You got the Mother Load, You will like using the viking, they sew so very well.

RedGarnet222 09-24-2010 07:00 AM

Wow What a haul for that kind of money. She gave it away. The threads alone would have been three times that.

Bluebonnet Sue 09-24-2010 07:13 AM

WOW!!!!!!!!!! What a deal. Didn't you feel even a little guilty gettting such a steal of a deal? Almost too good to be true, huh? Congratulations on such a wonderful purchase. There should be lots of happy sewing days ahead for you.

Katia 09-24-2010 08:09 AM

I sewed on her a little last night. Played with the computer feature trying out some of the decorative stitches. It has a mirror feature that was kinda fun. I am thinking that some of these would be fun on a crazy quilt. It seems to sew very well. Not too fast or too slow. Also my generic quarter inch foot fits well, so that is a plus. I have not tried my walking foot or hoppy foot, but they should fit.

And yes, I do feel a bit guilty getting her for such a good price. The woman that owned it passed away and it was her family that was selling her stuff. I am just hoping that she is up there, happy that her machine will be used and loved. Her son said that she sewed, but the machine does not appear to be heavily used. so maybe she did not sew too much or just took super good care of her stuff.

ruthieg 09-24-2010 10:30 AM

Wow! What a great find! I am sure you will really enjoy your new treasure.

Ditter43 09-24-2010 11:38 AM

That was a steal!! You got lucky on that one!! :D

klgreene 09-24-2010 04:06 PM

I was looking at something very similar on Ebay yesterday. And if it would have been $25.00 I would have bought it. But even Ebay, is to much for what I want. Lucky you!!!!

And what is Craig's list. I've heard of it, but not sure what it is.

Latrinka 09-24-2010 04:50 PM

Wow, what a bargain! Don't think I coulda passed that up either!
