A beautiful quilt like that gets many comments and visitors--both of which should cheer your father whether or not he knows you made the quilt for him. I made a quilt for my mother--who didn't have Alzheimers but did have loneliness problems--and the quilt made her much happier.

Very nice quilt and your dad in his heart knows you made it. Even with dementia they know and may not remember all the time but he loves it and what a lovely daughter.

Thanks, everyone.

JCL, I made a little label with his name and the year. Everything he has must have his name on it, nursing home policy. I know labels are supposed to be sewn on by hand, but I did his by machine, through all layers, so it willbe difficult to remove without time and a seam ripper. I'm hoping it persuades people it's not worth the effort.

We had to go through all that for my inlaws but things still got lost. Sometimes they reappeared, sometimes not. When we make things for people we love, we do it out of love and even though he may not be aware of what you have done, he is aware your kindness. My mother in law was always happy to see me and told everyone we grew up together. She was a gem and I miss her.

That is a very rich looking quilt... I will be bookmarking this one for the day when I want to make one for my parents! They would love this one for sure.
