i taught a group of 4 H 10 yr olds one year. and i know that safety cannot be stressed enough. 2 of my daughters were in the group. i can remember 50 yrs ago, my mom sewed her finger. and that has always stuck in my mind, ----"that could happen." maybe i shouldn't have, but i just told the kids, now this can happen, so be careful........ 3 of my girls, are now adult sewers, so i guess i didn't scare them tooo bad. kudoes to anyone that teaches them while they are young. :) :)

That is so smart of her to take an interest in sewing.I hope she continues to enjoy herself.Send a photo of a project when she finishes one. That would be great.

Oh that is so cute. She is a very lucky girl to have her own space to be creative. I see a designer down the road. Keep up the good work.

Here is an idea! Introduce her to Project Linus. I bet she would love making quilts for other children. Here is the link for the website. I am so proud of her and think it is just wonderful she is a quilter!

My gd is 8 and has had her own machine since she was 6. She loves sewing along side of me. We have her machine set up on a craft table that is ajustable to different heights. This way she has the machine at the right height for her. Her arms are at the right height and her feet are flat on the ground. We purchased the table at Costco for $30.00 and it will grow with her.
