My DD's brilliant idea
2 Attachment(s)
My son in law has diabetes and has a hard time with feeling in his fingers & toes. They love the microwave bowl holders that I made them several years ago but he still sometimes burns his fingers on the hot bowl when it comes out of the microwave. She suggested that I put two together (crisscrossing each other) so there are no open spaces for your hands to touch. I made this one yesterday & it turned out so good. Now when he pulls the bowl out of the microwave his hands/fingers won't touch any part of the hot bowl. Plus everything is doubled...fabric...batting.

What fine idea! It looks good too.

Well done! I think you should call your new design microwave tulips.

Thanks! Both bowls are stitched together as one so they won't come apart in washing.

Great idea! :)

So you put the (let's call it the microwave tulip) in the microwave under the bowl and heat both up together? Great idea. Your fabrics are so pretty. I can see getting carried away making them because they are endless combos of "petals"!

Here's the basic pattern I used but I enlarged the square sizes from 9 3/4" to 11". She likes them big. You can make any size that suits you. Now bear in mind I made 2 of these & stitched them together so you will have to double everything if you want the "tulip" style. You will have to find the instructions in the list. It's on the second row, seventh one from the left.
