oh my. I let my dd pick out her own fabric for her baby doll Joys play quilt that we are making. Little did I know what kind of fabric she would pic out. I tried to steer her to fabrics that would work together. but she had to have the bright red one. I let her pick out five fabrics. 4 for the front and one for the backing. I got the block done now just for the boarders and to quilt and bind it. she has helped with the whole project. well as much as her 2 1/2 y/o attention span could handle. she is really excited about it. all but the backing fabric was FQ's that she picked out and she like the backing and it was on sale so I got a yard of it for her.

the block is pp'ed and my first time doing it.

She has talent! I love what she picked out.

Personally I think it is cute as can be and so girlish. I may borrow the fabrics for a doll quilt for my granddaughter. Love it.

I wouldn't have picked those fabrics but once you have them in the block it's very pretty. Maybe she is going to be a designer!

I agree!

Fab-ra-holic 11-12-2010 10:13 AM

I think it is lovely! Good for you for letting her help out, she will like it even more because she knows she helped.

sahm4605 11-12-2010 10:15 AM

the only fabric I would have picked out would have been the fairy fabric. I am not a red or pink person by anymeans. but she wouldn't be swayed to anything else. I am just glad that I talked her out of the 30's repro fabric in orange and brown.

magpie 11-12-2010 10:15 AM

She has excellent taste. Your block is fantastic. Hope my first pp looks half as good.

DD did a great job on picking out her fabric :D I love how you fussy cut the fairies. Are you hooked on PP now? :D:D:D

thanks. I am not sure yet. I hate how there are a lot of scraps and "waste" leftover. but it is really nice to not have to do all those angle cuts.

Very pretty

bearisgray 11-12-2010 10:29 AM

It turned out nice - I never would picked them to use in one block - but it's beautiful!

katyquilter 11-12-2010 10:31 AM

belmer 11-12-2010 10:31 AM

This turned out very beautiful.... Great job!

You are teaching your daughter life skills. Teaching a child to make choices is way more important than just the color of a quilt. Good Job as a parent!!:)

jljack 11-12-2010 10:42 AM

She certainly has an eye for color!! My nearly 3 yo DGD would have done something similar, although "Tinkerbell" colors are her favorites right now....green, "fairy wing"....that sort of thing.

QuiltingHiker 11-12-2010 10:46 AM

yOU BROUGHT ALL OF THE COLORS AND PATTERNS TOGETHER BEAUTIFULLY.

Ditto!! Can I take you DD shopping, I could use the help!

KathyAire 11-12-2010 12:11 PM

She obviously knows what she is doing. Looking at the fabric in folds does not look like much, but together in a block they look wonderful. She has an eye for color.

SuziC 11-12-2010 02:09 PM

Wow she has a knack for colors!!

Quiltforme 11-12-2010 02:17 PM

Wow for 2 1/2 she can pick out colors better than me!!!

sewingladydi 11-12-2010 02:43 PM

I can understand your thinking, but the block you have done is really pretty.

carhop 11-12-2010 03:14 PM

julia58 11-12-2010 03:14 PM

CoriAmD 11-12-2010 04:01 PM

I definately think we have a quilter in the making here. This will be fun to remind her of when she is grown. See if she still likes red... LOL :)

maryel 11-12-2010 04:19 PM

It really works and how nice.

boohoofish 11-12-2010 04:27 PM

I think she did a great job of picking out the fabric.
I think you did a fantastic job of creating a block that went with the fabric. Job well done.

RNUNU 11-12-2010 04:31 PM

I'm not sure I would have picked out those fabric choices ..... however she must have a better eye for color, than I. The colors put together as you did, look "Awesome"! Love it!

Latrinka 11-12-2010 05:02 PM

Awe, it really looks good together! I like it, tell her good job!
