Just have to echo all the wows of everyone else.

sewnsew 07-23-2010 12:26 PM

I'm speechless ! What a beautiful job you did and so quickly !! I attempted a few blocks in my quilting class but it was torture for me. I hope you can enter it in some shows in Ireland so you can win lots of blue ribbons (or would they be green over there ?) Congrats on a great job ! Pat

PiecesinMn 07-23-2010 12:42 PM

Your quilt is breathtaking. The amount of time you took to it it done, beyond me. If I may suggest, get this quilt appraised. It may surprise you. Again, absolutely beautiful. I am jealous in the best possible way. What fields will you conquer now??

wvdek 07-23-2010 01:02 PM

I think you may have set a record dear for amount of time it took you to complete. My gosh, it is beautiful. Well done. Your brother will be blessed.

dakotamaid 07-23-2010 01:35 PM

WOW! I have no words, others have said it better.

I want to do one in blue and white, maybe someday!!! Yours will be my inspiration.

Lacelady 07-23-2010 02:05 PM

Dakotamaid, a blue and white Jane would be really special, I look forward to seeing your first blocks!

I haven't ever seen a juried quilt show here Sewnsew - certainly not here in the West of Ireland, so I doubt if I will ever win any ribbons, whatever colour. I will probably put it in our (Sligo Quilt group) next exhibition, which I expect will be next year now.

Piecesinmn, it's a nice idea of yours, about appraisal, but again, I haven't a clue whether there is anyone here that does that. I suppose I could ask one of the Irish Quilt guilds, but I might have to eat humble pie, as I am not a member of either of them. (Lapsed several years ago, because it seemed soooo expensive). In the meantime, I shall probably just keep trying to improve - this isn't perfect by any means, it just looks good from a distance. Isn't that the thing about it being viewed from horseback at speed??? LOL.

Seriously though, I have been bowled over by all your lovely comments, and thank each and every one of you.

mhunt1717 07-23-2010 03:01 PM

Awesome!

Awe-striking Lesley. You did a wonderful job on this project. Will you take a vacation or keep making blocks?

Lacelady 07-23-2010 03:24 PM

I have several UFO's hanging around, and an IRR that needs doing, plus I am collecting fabrics for a quilt called Little Brown Bird (if you google it, you will see pics). There is no danger of me twiddling my fingers not knowing what to do!

DeniseB 07-23-2010 03:43 PM

Wow!, What a work of art. It is amazing you got in COMPLETELY finished in just over 6 months. Outstanding job. I love your quilt, it is beautiful. The colors are perfect and I love the name. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Shemjo 07-23-2010 03:48 PM

Absolutely breathtaking, Leslie! Now, I MUST get busy on mine again. Moving slowly, but still working on it. Love how yours looks completed!

ozecb 07-23-2010 04:20 PM

ABsolutely FABulous, another standing ovation from Australia. I've just started getting my bits and pieces together to start on what will be a very long term project! Only hope i can do it justice.

sewsewquilter 07-23-2010 04:38 PM

Oh Lesley, it's breathe taking. It's truly a heirloom quilt. I'm in awe.

Patti, you will have one of your own long before that, which I look forward to seeing this time next year! (Hope the keyboard dried out so you can keep us up to date on your progress)

anicra 07-24-2010 03:54 AM

Beautiful. You must have been very busy!

Shirlx 07-24-2010 04:13 AM

Beautiful job you should be very proud.

Babs194068 07-24-2010 04:36 AM

Congratulations. I only have 131 of the blocks done. An internet quilt group I belong to is doing this as a block of the week. One lady has finished hers. This is a great achievement. AWESOME JOB!!!!!!

charvan 07-24-2010 04:36 AM

Absolutely Beautiful!

sandpat 07-24-2010 05:34 AM

I had to wait for a little while to be able to type again Lesley. I'm still working...I'm not "behind" yet...but haven't been able to make any new blocks in days! I'm going through withdrawal...I bet you are too not having this beauty to work on!

Incredible!!!

cindyg 07-24-2010 07:16 AM

Ohhhhhhhhhhh I love it. Such a lot of work takes dedication. The thing I like best - the colors and fabrics you chose. What a fresh approach to a Dear Jane. It's gorgeous. And then you hand quilted it. It's beautiful.

WonderAli 07-24-2010 08:21 AM

I crown you the Queen of Quilters. A stunning quilt for a stunning quilter. I wish I had your knowledge and skill. You are very talented. Award winning quilt, I'm sure!

Wow, Wonderali, I'm not sure that I can live up to that, but thank you all the same.

Lucky Lindy 07-24-2010 10:35 AM
