Well Eiley finished her 1st doll quilt yesterday. She even chose all the fabrics.
She sewed the strips on fleece, then stitched around the edges and turned it. I did the top stitching around the edges but other than that, she completely did this herself! She just turned 5 this month. I am so proud of her!

Good for her!! How wonderful of you to take the time and effort to teach her. I started sewing at about the same age and it has served me well through the years.

Great first doll quilt. She did a wonderful job picking fabric. She looks very pleased with herself and it is wonderful to see future generations getting started in the quilting craft. Kudos to you for helping her get started. Thanks for sharing.

She did a good job! Looks like you could have someone to quilt with.

Beautiful...quilt and little girl. She did so well at this I was remembering the sew and flip method where you put batting on the backing and the strips on top and sew one and flip and add on another etc. so when done it is quilted to the backing. If you do it on a flannel shirt opened at the shoulders and sleeves removed, it makes a nice quilted vest with a flannel lining or you can do the opened sleeves the same way and replace them to make a jacket. She could do it I'm sure.

I did, I read everyones comments to her last night.

She took to sewing pretty well. I just showed her once how to lift the presser foot, needle up/down etc and she "got it". She has been watching me sew for over a year now.

Didn't think she was really paying that much attention to me, but I guess she was! :D
