My Dresden Bicycle
1 Attachment(s)
A couple of weeks ago there was a thread about the dresden bike quilt on Pinterest. I had been looking at it for a while, but had no idea where I could hang it in my house. One of the guys in my spinning class recently passed away. He was constantly volunteering his time etc at the YMCA. He was so friendly and the nicest man ever. They have renamed the cycling studio after him. I donated this to the YMCA in memory of him to hang in the cycling studio.

Lovely bike, and a great and fitting tribute!

how nice of you to donate in his memory. Is the background a convergence? Nice job.

What a nice thing to do. Very cute quilt.
|
Love your quilt and really love your reason for making it. So sorry for your loss and the YMCA's loss. Sometimes I just don't understand why some really good people leave us prematurely. They are people who do so much good that we need them to stick around longer.
|
Yes the background is a convergence. I actually had it in my stash. I had made it a couple of years ago to use for the background of something else. The colors just didn't do what I had wanted them to do. I remade it. I knew I would find a good use for this one. I love how it came out. He will be sorely missed.

The act of thoughtfulness is duly noted. I also have been eyeing that particular pattern. I quilt entirely for a childrens charity. AZBlankets4Kids. I would like to make that quilt for a child. Would you share with me the size of your individual dresdens. I can figure out the rest. Thanks.

Win, win. That is a great quilted tribute! Whoever came up with the idea of a dresden bike was very whimsically clever. I'd like to be known as someone like that!!
