Wow, that is an idea. I may do that.

Moving a few blocks to the sides, should I add a sashing or just bind it. On the subject of sashing fabric what is your suggestion. Something vintage or a tonal?, as not to take away from the beauty of the top.

Thanks

Why on earth would anyone get rid of something as beautiful as that? Glad it's been rescued by you. Enjoy it.

pstrwife 07-17-2011 08:20 AM

You are sooooo lucky.

nativetexan 07-17-2011 08:22 AM

Judith1005 07-17-2011 08:33 AM

I've found some terrific things at Goodwill, but never anything as gorgeous as that. What I don't understand is how anyone could give it up.

macygma 07-17-2011 08:52 AM

Marilyn Philips 07-17-2011 09:11 AM

What a treasure - I never see anything like this at any thrift shop.

luce321 07-17-2011 10:35 AM

What a beautiful quilt. I often wonder why beautiful work like this winds up at Goodwill. Evidentally, they don't know the sentimental value. I have often rescued handmade items from yard sales, crochet, or quilted.

DOUBLE WOW - that is quite a find

MaryAnnMc 07-17-2011 01:51 PM

How anyone could let this end up in a thrift shop is beyond me, but i'm so glad you have saved it.

What a find. It would be great to finish it as it will last much better onoce it is quilted. Good luck.

JACKPOT!!

quiltjoey 07-17-2011 06:00 PM

I'm so glad you, a quilter, found it. Also, that it wasn't just thrown in the trash. Better Goodwill than the trash. It reminds me of the Jacobean and Baltimore patterns. Some one worked long and hard on it and it's nice too know it will now be appreciated and loved!! Are you going to quilt it or have it long-armed? Good luck in what ever you decide!

misoop 07-17-2011 06:01 PM

What a find!!! I'll never find anything like that at our Goodwill!! It's so sad that someone donated that with all that work, never appreciating it....didn't want it!! :(

Quilted Horse 07-17-2011 06:14 PM

Nettie Phillips 07-17-2011 06:17 PM

Wow, I don't know why anyone would part with that.

I haven't even thought that far. I know I want it kinda fluffy and maybe flannel on the back. But I may change my mind about the back if I find something spectacular.

countrycottage 07-17-2011 07:46 PM
