It survived the washer and dryer too! I also learned that the spray adhesive I bought...was not water soluble and not in fact, *basting* spray. It worked, and my machine is no worse for wear, but washing didn't get rid of it and though the quilt isn't ruined, I am now pulling it apart between my quilting to un-adhere it. Lesson learned.

Barbara, thank you again, for the suggestion on the binding. I love it!

Without further ado, I present my first ever quilt. I call it "Lesson Learned", as I learned quite a few lessons in the process. :)

WOW!!!! GREAT JOB!!!! I haven't completed my first quilt yet. I have the top done but haven't quilted it, etc. I'm too nervous...LOL. I will be thrilled if mine comes out half as nice as yours. It's PERFECT :)

Congratulations on a beautiful quilt! What's next?

purplefiend 09-14-2010 12:44 PM

It looks good, your colors work well together.
I made a Card Tricks quilt and being a new quilter, I pieced the blocks badly and lots of the points were missing.
I named it "The Pointless Card Game" lol

bailey 09-14-2010 12:46 PM

Great job and beautiful result. Love the colors too.

I'm going to start a quilt for my mother in law for Christmas. I need to get on it soon, though, because we're celebrating Christmas early this year, as that is when my father in law will be home on his R&R from Afghanistan. I can't decide on a pattern though! I have a million ideas going through my head! haha

Thanks for sharing your quilt and experience - I haven't used basting spray, so I learned something new as well - read the label first eh :? You gave yourself a lot of work but hopefully your patience will pay off.

lol Yes, read very carefully. If it doesn't say "basting spray" on it...RUN! I was able to un-stick everything...thankfully I didn't do super tight quilting. I must say though, "basting spray" or just plain old craft spray adhesive, it was much easier to sew together without my layers shifting. :D

sewmuchmore 09-14-2010 04:08 PM

Yeah !!!! Congratulated, great job too. Love your colors.

A D9P (disappearing 9 patch) is really easy and looks complicated :)

You did a great job on this one!!

For your first quilt, I think you did an A-one job. Plus, you learned lots of things. Look forward to seeing your next project.

Look at how nice everything lines up! Good job! I'm also impressed with your mitered corners (I've been quilting for seven years and still can't).

No, it's a throw/lap quilt. Its 50"x70". Took me about three weeks, start to finish. If I'd been able to work uninterrupted, it would have taken me a few days, to a week, is my guess. But you know...kids and hubby need some attention...lol and food.

deema 09-16-2010 06:24 AM

Thank you everyone!! It is so encouraging to hear/read all of these nice things! lol I can't wait to get started on my next one!

PJO 09-16-2010 07:18 AM
