Thanks for the nice comments. I have found the pattern on the internet by just putting in "Ribbon In Motion" quilt pattern and it pulls up several places where you can get the pattern for about $12

I'm sorry, but I'm new at this and I don't know if you sent me the information that I asked for! Seventy-four and still quilting for others. Would like the pattern for the Walter Reed Vet hospital donations. They're grateful for the gift of the quilts made by our group. Need your help

gailw 06-22-2010 05:53 PM

Here is one of the internet sites where you can get the pattern. http://theartofthequilt.net/bargelo-01.html It is shown in red on the website which is really stunning too.

Thanks and good luck,
Sherryl

Rusty's Mama 06-22-2010 07:26 PM

I would love to make a bargello some day. Yours is absolutely beautiful. I thought about adding to the earlier thread about projects currently being worked on but my list is toooo long (due to too many UFOs); however a bargello is definitely on my want to do list.

I think you will enjoy making it. It calls for quilters grid flannel to help keep your rows straight, but I couldn't find any so I just used W & N and drew a 2" grid myself with a water soluable pen. After I had made it one lady ask me if I did it on the longarm machine, which I hadn't even thought to do. She said that if she did one she would do it on the longarm using her horizontal lock so that she could just whiz thru it. Wish I would have thought of that. Maybe next time.

amorerm 06-22-2010 07:47 PM

OK...How in world do you quilt as you go with this???? Veeeeerrrrryyyy Nice!!!!

tooMuchFabric 06-22-2010 07:48 PM

The blue pattern you did is by far the most interesting one on that site. Very nice job.

Actually it was easy and made sense. You start with the center stripe and work your way to the right until all those stripes are done and then you start from the center after turning the quilt 180 degrees and work all of those stripes. That way you only have half or less of the fabric that you are passing thru the machine. I was really skeptical about it until I started on it and was pleased to see how it worked. You should try it.

Really beautiful! I love bargello, but yours looks three-dimensional! Well done!

Lynnc 06-22-2010 11:54 PM

That same pattern was my first one too. I made it thru a class. The teacher called it "twisted ribbon". Mine is purple and blue
