Yes, each and every 9-patch block IS the same and when cut, the patches are swapped exactly the same. Here is the link to explain it.

OK... here is the scoop. In order to get my configuration, you need to slice up 4 9 patch blocks, then "mix and match" all the pieces. You will wind up with 4 slightly different blocks that go together to make a "super block" that looks like the picture below.

Obviously, since I have added an extra fabric, my layout will not look like the examples. I have to be an Odd Duck, I guess. :wink: I fell in love with the fabrics and had to have ALL of them in this quilt! BTW... you can see a tiny preview of my backing fabric in the upper right corner of the "super block" pic. :lol: 8)

Very kewl! Isn't it great that you can turn your blocks one way and me, another, and even if we were using the same fabrics, the quilts would look different?!

I really like your disappearing 9 Patch blocks. Love the fabric and your colors.

Before Christmas I took a quilt class where the block being taught was the Disappearing 9 patch. Two of us in the class decided to do the block in Christmas fabrics and we swapped some of the blocks. BAD IDEA, BAD FABRIC CHOICE! Neither of us could get the blocks to look decent in any arrangement so we took all the swapped blocks out and went with what we each brought...even that didn't WORK. The class consensus was this block doesn't look good in Christmas fabric..Isn't that strange and interesting? Anybody else ever try it with Christmas fabric.

Looking at it now (as I am sewing on the border :roll: ), I am not terribly happy with the random-ness of the larger blocks. However, I almost always get to the nit-picky stage eventually, so I won't stress too much... I will just finish the project and move on.

I am thinking I will do a 2-sided border... blue on the inside / pink on the out on the top and right side; pink on the inside / blue on the out on the bottom and left. Does that make sense? I like this idea because the squares are kind of enclosed this way. Here are a couple of pictures to show what I am thinking.... coments, please!!!

I like border #2 the best and I know what you mean about the randomness thing. I got 12 of my little scrappy superblocks done and on the design wall and I'm not craZy about it ... will see.

The others I did, had a distinct pattern/design.

But I like your quilt and the colors and workmanship are wonderful!
