Since you wonderful quilters were kind enough to guide me to great instruction pages, I had to give this pattern a try. So far, I have the blocks cut out, and several of the 9 patches put together, ready for slicing. There is a hot bath calling my name now, so I am going to quit sewing for the night. I am hoping for some feed-back on fabric, etc. by morning, so I can finish the quilt with confidence!

Regardless of how many night owls are out there, I fully expect to finish this top tomorrow, since I am quite pleased with it so far. 8)

Here is a close up of the fabrics.

You go girl! That is going to be one fine disappearing 9 patch. Slice away. After you cut it up, be sure to try lots of different combinations until you find the one you like best.

I like the fabric, and looks like the green will chain nicely through the top. Are all the blocks starting out with the same configuration?

WOW!

Wonderful choices of fabric and perfect construction!

Yes, to Moonpi about all blocks looking the same at this stage unless you do the scrappy version.

cnolan, you will be amazed at how quilckly you will finish this after the slashing and swapping stage. I've done 8 of these quilt tops in the past 10 days, the smallest of which is 36" X 52" and the largest is 88" X 88". I'm so pleased you posted your pics! I will be watching for your next progress report. :)

Here is the next step. I have several of these blocks ready to go, and am very happy with the whole thing so far! I expect to have the whole top done before noon, and will post my pics with finished.

Thanks for all the great comments!!! :D

I have studied those two pictures until my head aches. I have graphed it and turned it and looked some more. I cannot see how the bottom configuration came from the top photo. Every time I graph it it comes out reversed. AM I really that dumb or was the bottom picture done from a different block?

cnolan 02-06-2008 07:10 AM

I am so sorry to have been the source of a headache for you!!

I assure you it all came from the same block I pictured. However, I had a bunch of the blocks sliced up, so it is possible I am mixing them, but I have lots of them together and don't seem to have any extras.

You are NOT dumb.... it is hard for me to visualize this kind of thing too! As I am putting the next bunch together, I will try to figure out how to explain the way I do it.

Mamagus 02-06-2008 08:38 AM

OH! Well there you go... I read in the early postings that the blocks would all be the same but they are NOT all the same... made from the same fabrics but not the same arrangement of fabrics in every 9 patch... am I right?

I love figuring out patterns . It isn't always easy to get books here in Newfoundland and by the time I ordered it and had it come I'd probably have my mind changed!
