My first Feathered Star

3 Attachment(s)
I have always favored "star" block over most other quilt blocks. This past "HOT" weekend, I stayed inside and tackled my first try at a Feathered Star block. I found a tutorial online and it was quite easy to follow along. Molly's Place: FEATHERED STAR TUTORIALsewhappy10000.blogspot.com/2010/05/feathered-star-tutorial.html

This is not the fabric I intended on using, but thought I best try with older fabric I didn't care for just in case it didn't work out the first time. BUT IT DID! I am tickled how easy it was to put together. My square is about 16" I remember thinking as I was putting this together how relaxed I felt creating this little ditty! Hope you like!

you did a really fantastic job! i love the feathered star and have a queen quilt of them on my bed - didn't make it, bought it at an unbelievably low price. i read through the tut and it seems very complicated. but the steps are written very well. congrats on your accomplishment.

Oh is that pretty. Yes so often something we don't think will work, turns out gorgeous like you feathered star

QuiltingKrazy 07-04-2012 02:36 PM

Thanks Y'all for all the compliments! Following the tutorial and looking at the pictures really made it easy peasy to put together. I starched all the fabric before cutting and I know that HELPED a great deal working with the small pieces. I also used the smaller , finer point needle which REALLY helped in sewing and getting points to match.
I'm trying to find another similar pattern online now to do! I really want a "SMALL" one with 1/2" or 3/4" feathers.
If you know where I can find one, please let me know!
Thanks again y'all !
