I didn't have the courage (or whatever you want to call it) to try FM on my own so I took a quilting class. I didn't how to set my machine. I got lucky the instructor had a machine same maker as mine. She was very helpful. :D
I had fun free motioning. I don't know why I waited so long to try it. Well, one thing was I needed a machine that I could drop the dog feed on. I am hooked on free motion! This is a fun quilt to make. I will making other one of these. :D Back My favorite picture Top |

beautiful freemotion and i love the quilts. isn't freemotion fun???
|
Thanks Everyone!
Yes, I find free motion very LIBERATING!!!!!! and FUN!!!!!!!! Why did I wait so long. :? Silly me. I normally do not care for the rag quilts but this one I think is cool. Someone recently posted one made like this with hearts instead of circles. It has inspired me to do hearts on the next one like this. Her heart quilt is very pretty. It was the one with the black background. I have one more quilt I need to post that I made as a Christmas gift. I meandered on it. I found it hard to quilt in a bigger motion after quilting on this one so close but I did ok. It’s going to be hard to go back to quilting in the ditch when I need to. :D |
great job kiddo

My inspriation...it was a class I took to learn free motion, this was the pattern she was teaching. The flyer suggested planned colors or scrapy. I had never made a scrapy and picture of the quilt in flyer screamed scrapy to me even though the picture was a planned 3 colored quilt. My DH likes colorful things, so I went to one of our two fabric stores and bought a bunch of balik fat quarters and 10" squares. The layout was whatever we wanted to do. I really liked the free spirit of our instructor. She really enabled you. We played with the layout and this is what I came up with. Thanks for all your nice comments. This is by far my most favorite quilt so far. |
Wow, I love that quilt! I searched the web, without any luck, for the Bullseye pattern. I, too, am not wild about rag quilts, but this one is striking. Since it is a rag quilt, would it be necessary to machine quilt it? I think of rag quilt construction being a quilt as you go approach. I'm trying to fall in love with free motion quilting ...... am envious for all of you who have conquered it! I have my eyes on a Bernina w/ stitch regulator. My sister has one and does a phenomenal job of free motion quilting. Howver, she was never able to conquer it until she had a regulated stitch. Perhaps there is still hope for me yet. Nita

I simply love the quilt in your avatar SSQ. It looks easy enough sewing it but the agony to me would be color choices and color placement. Maybe God knows that if I had those skills as well, that my little house could not hold all the fabric I would be buying.Your free motion on it and the other quilt posted with it, is great. I think I need a team mate to help with the colors, etc., LOL... but then again, where to stash the stash? Have a great day today and stay safe, Cindy
After a second look I realized it wasn't a second quilt but the amazing back of the circle one - so cool!!! Is there a pattern we can purchase ? Thanks , Cindy |
Looks great!!!!

That's beautiful!
I'm in a similar situation. I took a FM class and have done a little, but this week I had a quilt to finish that screams outline quilting. Decided to give it a try, and it's turning out wonderfully! It's for my first grandchild, so I really want it to be nice. I'll be showing it here soon! |
Cool!

wow
|
I love your quilt - I keep coming back to this post for another look. :D :D
|
It's really great- would love to know how you did it.
