[/quote] try one (1) Sun bonnet sue it gives the large curves and then the small valleys, just do one. then proceed to a smaller curves and deeper valley and then try a point. Do forget to clip your valley just a little. (Scant 1/3").[/quote]

That is wonderful! I'm planning to make my Gran a table runner for Christmas, and I think I'm going to machine piece it (for time--I'm still very slow) but try some handquilting. She will love it. Gran learned handquilting when she married my grandfather and her new MIL and aunts plunked her in a chair at a quilting bee. She was given a needle and thread and her only instructions were "try to make your stitches a little smaller, honey"!
