I tried this out, then after no one being able to tell what it was redid it (as I missed a piece) and now it looks right. I must say the Carol Doak is a very good teacher with her books. I have tried this several times before, but have never been able to have them come out right. I think I'm going to like paper piecing now!!

I forgot to tell you...... its only 1 3/4" square. Here come the minis!!

That's insane!

Kudos!
I've never worked that small.
But I can definitely recognize what it is!!

What's the plan for the rest of the quilt? wallhanging? mug rug?

cheryl rearick 04-06-2011 04:47 PM

I plan to try to make the miniature quilt that this goes with. It has a rotation of sues and hearts. The finished size will be 13.5 in square.

jtquilts 04-07-2011 04:47 AM

I could tell from the first picture what it was but, what a difference one piece makes! Such tiny precise work!

sandpat 04-07-2011 06:06 AM

Great job brooke! Welcome to PP!!!

decky 04-07-2011 06:14 AM

Very nice and very small! I just finished my first pp and I spent more time on it than making a lap quilt. I used a checked and had a terrible time try to make them go straight up and down. I ripped the sewing out so much that the pattern was falling apart. I think I will try it again but not using checks.

Mariposa 04-07-2011 06:16 AM

Brooke- your Sue block is darling! Minis are addicting ya know? :)

beachlady 04-07-2011 06:19 AM

I am also a beginner with paper piecing. One of our guild members got us hooked on it with Carol Doak's book which is wonderful.
Carol also has many patterns on her website.
