I took a class given by Peggy Martin (Just named Teacher of the Year by the International Association of Professional Quilters). Her method of paper piecing was easy to follow and I'm quite proud of my first project. Most people in the class did a wall hanging but I extended mine with borders and will probably use it as a tablecloth.

I absolutely love this! If you're going to use this as a tablecloth I'd put a clear cover over it so not to get it stained.

I use my quilts as tablecloths quite often by using clear vinyl (that I buy at Hancocks by the yard) on top. Easy to clean and the quilt is very visible. I get lots of compliments.

Very lovely, nice work. I really like your use of the larger sunflower print, it adds a lot of interest.

Beautiful!!! I'm not familiar with her method. How is it different from other methods? I have been paper piecing for a while now, and I'm just curious.

laughingquilter 01-28-2011 01:07 PM

Wow! That's awesome! I'm signed up to take a two weekend class at the end of March and the end of April to do a Judy Niemeyer (sp?) quilt pattern. Nothing like jumping in the deep end - I've never done PP before! Somehow, I don't think I'll be posting the picture for all to see. Great job on yours!!!! You must be so proud of it!

Jennifer22206 01-28-2011 01:07 PM

that's beautiful. I love it, and love to PP. :) Great work.

Being new to paper piecing, I can't answer this question, but she does put arrows for directions to sew in addition to the numbers. Someone told me this was unique to her, but I don't know for sure.

Thanks to everyone for their very nice comments. It's fun to have a site to be able to post accomplishments for people who enjoy quilting as much as I do.
