I DREADED trying to do this....even after reading two tutorials and checking Carol Doak's book out of the library; I decided what the heck and jumped in with both feet. I have to say that I LUV, LUV, LUV PP and have now found a new 'passion' and a way to get perfect 1/4 in seams. Thank you all for submitting your pictures and comments. Kudos to everyone

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 02-11-2010 12:13 PM

Great block! I agree that PP is much easier than I anticipated. I'd love to do more of it.

karielt 02-11-2010 12:18 PM

ToucanSam 02-11-2010 12:30 PM

I'm wanting to try this too but keep dreading it. You've inspired me, adding it to my to-do-soon list! :)

Ducky 02-11-2010 12:49 PM

That's a beauty, Sewze!

katier825 02-11-2010 12:54 PM

Looks great! Isn't it funny how we are so afraid to try new things. Now you have a whole new category of patterns to choose from!

rootyr 02-11-2010 12:54 PM

Great job!

Dragonfly Nana 02-11-2010 12:57 PM

I am a dreader too and also inspired by your beautiful work. I guess my DH just might get his mariner cross quilt.

SulaBug 02-11-2010 01:09 PM

ritamaew 02-11-2010 01:33 PM

Perfecto! Great Block ! I am happy to hear that you went outside your comfort zone to try a new technique. You now have a new skill in your quilting repertoire. BTW have you been silverlinings.com? He he--it will feed your new addiction.

Rita

MamaBear61 02-11-2010 01:44 PM

Great job, paper peicing is still in my need to learn group

Ellis' Granny B 02-11-2010 01:47 PM

You did a wonderful job. Isn't it just amazing? I love paper piecing. It is my favorite technique becasue it looks so complicated and challenging, but it isn't really. It just takes time and concentration. I find people are always amazed by the finised products.

paintedquilt 02-11-2010 02:34 PM

'tis a beauty :P

blahel 02-11-2010 03:39 PM

That is a great block. I love your fabric choices.

Sewze 02-12-2010 04:56 AM

Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement. It is very gratifying to learn that I have inspired someone else to try this technique. I am new to quilting and feel that I have indeed accomplished a new forum to express my creativity and love of color and fabrics. Kudos again.

Sewze 02-12-2010 05:03 AM

No, I haven't been to that website and when I try to get there I get some audio production company....is there another link? I'd love to feed my new addiction. Jinnie

Great block, yes, PP is fun and so accurate. I really like it too.

Panther Creek Quilting 02-12-2010 05:50 AM

Rita, that link leads to an audio production site. Could you please share the "addiction" site, LOL.

Sheila

ritamaew 02-12-2010 05:50 AM

Sorry about the bad link. I should have verified it first.
Here is the correct one:

Sewze 02-12-2010 06:26 AM

AWESOME!!! Thanks Rita. Will add it to my Favorites, so I won't lose.

Here are some of my favorite paper piecing sites that give you free patterns. Enjoy:

http://piecebynumber.com/pastbom/archbom.htm

http://thisbe.org/cheryl/Patterns.html

http://www.victorianaquiltdesigns.co...icQuilters.htm

I used these sites to make parts of this quilt for a day care center.

Boston1954 02-12-2010 06:44 AM

My sister is thinking of learning it too. I am still a little shy about it. Yours is gorgeous. It looks so soft too.

MollieSue 02-12-2010 07:01 AM

Your block looks awesome!!! :)

amma 02-12-2010 09:54 AM

Beautifully Done!!! :D:D:D
It is awesome that you jumped in and tried, AND look what a stunning block you have made!!! :D:D:D

mysacrifice 02-12-2010 11:13 AM

Gorgeous! I'd say you are quite good at it!

belmer 02-12-2010 11:41 AM

You did a very spectacular job, and the colors are perfect.

Sewze 02-12-2010 12:03 PM

Thanks again..........for anyone trying to free themselves of the 'dread': it is really very easy--just jump in and give it a whirl. After all, if it doesn't turn out to be your cup of tea, it's just a little material and time and the satisfaction of knowing that you tried. :-)

cuppi duke 02-12-2010 12:04 PM

I love your colors. You did a great job. I haven't got up the nerve to do PP but now I think I might. I seems like it would be easier to do kaleidoscopes that way.

topper1 02-12-2010 12:59 PM
