Great Job for your first! Actually, an AWESOME JOB!! I suggest maybe quilting swirls or loops.

heather1949 11-25-2012 10:27 PM

Wow that looks great.

SheriR 11-25-2012 10:35 PM

I love your D9P. It's one of my favorite to do. Well... I've only done two and you did a great job!

earthwalker 11-25-2012 10:38 PM

melodyg 11-26-2012 04:24 AM

Very nice!

deedum 11-26-2012 04:29 AM

That is one beautiful quilt!

Tartan 11-26-2012 04:53 AM

Congratulations on a great first quilt top! As it is your first, I would suggest SITD ( stitch in the ditch) with a walking foot if you have one. Check the batt for the maximum distance for quilt lines and alternate straight lines up and down the quilt.

Diane007 11-26-2012 04:57 AM

very nice quilt...
congratulations

momsobon 11-26-2012 05:01 AM

Great job, I love doing this one for baby quilts..

QultingaddictUK 11-26-2012 05:13 AM

I teach all of my newbies the D9P as their 1st quilt and yours is one of the nicest. As far as quilting is concerned if you want to do FMQ try just a wavy straight line along some seams, if not just use a zig-zag or other fancy stitch. I do not recommend SID (Stitch in the ditch) for newbies as it is hell keeping the stitch in the ditch!

lillybeck 11-26-2012 05:27 AM

If this is an attempt I am waiting for the real thing because it is going to be awesome

debcavan 11-26-2012 05:36 AM

Beautiful.

Great job!!! Your quilt is beautiful. I seem to favor echo quilting. I think that's what I'd do. It will make you individual blocks pop!

GailG 11-26-2012 05:42 AM

Beautiful!! When I made my D9P, I was at a loss as to how to stitch it since I'm limited and only use SITD and cross-hatching. Couldn't decide, so I tried cross-hatching and it worked.

HillCountryGal 11-26-2012 06:04 AM

Very nice quilt!
My 1st quilt was similar and I did a cross hatching stitch. It was easier than I thought it would be.

Jingle 11-26-2012 06:37 AM

Beautiful, you look like a natural talented quilter. I made one and just did a large stipple. That is how I usually quilt all my quilts. I love the look and I doing it.

carslo 11-26-2012 06:42 AM

What a great quilt to do for your first one, and you certainly have done a terrific job! Keep up the good work!

Beautiful quilt; great job. Love the d9p pattern and have done a few; one of my favorites. Great colors too.
No suggestions on the quilting; I only do loops and meandering so I am pretty satisfied with those. It will
look great no matter.

Congrats on your first quilt--it's going to be lovely. Donna

thank you I was kinda thinking the same thing I do have a walking foot ( never have tried to use it yet) I think I will practice on something else first.

I will have to look that up what is echo quilting?

cjsews 11-26-2012 07:46 AM

Nice quilt. Love the colors. For a first quilt you might want to do just a simple cross hatch. Too much time and difficulty may crush your love of quilting. Maybe you are up to the challenge of free motion. I just cannot get the hang of it and admire those that do such a beautiful job of it. Good luck either way.

DebbE 11-26-2012 08:21 AM

What a great job you did! Since its your first quilt, I doubt you know how to FMQ, so I'd tie it (be sure and tie close together following the instructions from the batting and learn how to do a square knot by googling it) or stitch in the ditch. Can't wait to see what you do next!

LoisM 11-26-2012 09:32 AM

Holy Moley! It's quite wonderful for a first quilt! Good for you!

Mariposa 11-26-2012 09:35 AM

You've done a terrific job on your first project! :)

quiltedlamb07 11-26-2012 10:30 AM

good job...

Tweety2911 11-26-2012 03:04 PM

Your first quilt is lovely! Great job. A simple meandering quilting would be nice on this busy quilt.

red-warrior 11-26-2012 05:42 PM

Your first quilt came out great ! I can't believe it was just yard sale finds....I have seen some where they bought the materials to go together and it did not look this nice!

redquilter 11-26-2012 05:55 PM

You did a lovely job. I really like the colors.

mighty 11-26-2012 07:48 PM
