Love the quilt on your profile picture!

MaryStoaks 01-13-2010 04:57 PM

Beautiful job. You should be proud of it. Makes me want to hide my first quilt.

Ninnie 01-13-2010 04:58 PM

What a great way to start! Love it!

BKinCO 01-13-2010 07:40 PM

THIS is your first quilt???? Wow. That's all I have to say.

chartwig 01-14-2010 06:31 AM

You did awesome! I have always wanted to do a bargello and I absolutely love your border fabric. It goes perfectly with the rest of the quilt. You did a fantastic job and can't wait to see your next one! :-)

mpspeedy 01-14-2010 06:45 AM

Only a beginer would attempt to make that quilt. I have been quilting for 40 years and I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. You did a beautiful job. The only problem is that now we will expect you to make a masterpiece everytime. All of my hats are off to you.

JudeWill 01-14-2010 07:41 AM

Can't believe that's your first quilt! And by that, I don't mean I really don't believe you. It is amazing! And you made the pattern and quilted it with a longarm!? You really jump in with both feet, don't you. It is a fabulous quilt and I love it! Really like that border fabric, too. Amazing job! Want to come give me lessons?

GailG 01-14-2010 07:51 AM

This one boggles my mind. It's great. I don't have time to read the whole thread, but I WILL come back to it. Congratulations on a job well (excellently) done.

aberi 01-14-2010 07:54 AM

It's hard to believe this is your first quilt!!!~ it is wonderful!!!
Keep up what you are doing, because you are definately doing it right!

crafterbarbara 01-14-2010 07:56 AM

I hope she is one Special Sister in Law! I had One Special Sister in Law, at one time she would have deserved a gift such as this.

How long did it take you to design your pattern? Did you have many take outs? It is so pretty.

I guess I can only hope to get this courage.

Lizzydripping 01-14-2010 07:58 AM

I can't believe it's your first! WOW

nursie76 01-14-2010 08:02 AM

Totally and utterly awesome!!!!!! I want so to make a bargello quilt, but have never had the nerve! You rock!

Ilovemydogs 01-14-2010 08:09 AM

Harmony 01-14-2010 09:01 AM

I'll bet you're a big believer in the phrase "aim high"! Your quilt is astonishing!

Linsoblu 01-14-2010 09:58 AM

What a beautiful quilt.

Baywatch quilter 01-14-2010 10:17 AM

Great job of color selection and movement within the quilt. Many experienced quilters have difficulties with what seems a natural selection to you. Keep up the great work.

OneLadyQuilter 01-14-2010 10:20 AM

Very well done !!

Greendragon6889 01-14-2010 10:24 AM

That is so cool. Love it.

hapytlk 01-14-2010 10:34 AM

Wow..love you border print. You did an amazing job of pulling all those colors. Beautiful!

Quilter Marshall 01-14-2010 11:45 AM

WOW, you did a great job. !!!!!!!!!!!!

kkbrand 01-14-2010 12:15 PM

So does this mean you have your own long arm machine too? Your quilt is great, my first quilt is in my picture but I sent it out to be quilted I was not that ambitious! Great job, cant wait to see what else you do.

aussie bella 01-14-2010 01:29 PM

WOW great job never did anything like that for my first quilt and just love the border goes great with the quilt and i am impressed with the quilting wouldn't be game to do quilting first up on a long arm. Can't wait to see the next one

Promise 01-14-2010 01:32 PM

No, I don't own a long arm....I took a class on how to use one and then paid an hourly rental/users fee to quilt it.

KittyGram 01-14-2010 01:59 PM

Very nice!!!! If you'd not said it was your first quilt, you would have had all of thinking you've been doing it for years! Beautiful!!!

JudeWill 01-14-2010 02:25 PM

I keep coming back to look at your quilt again & again. It is so gorgeous. I'm wondering: did you work out the pattern on graph paper?

Promise 01-14-2010 02:32 PM

No, I didn't. This was suppose to be one of those gentle rolling bargellos. Not having had any experience, I cut strips out and this is what I got. To get the effect I really wanted, I should have used more of the wider strips. To make matters even more confusing, I sewed a couple of strips on the wrong end of the quilt! I thought I would never get it done. After this quilt, I need to try a different effect. Still pondering on which effect I want to creat next.

quilt addict 01-14-2010 02:36 PM

What a wonderful quilt  . Hard to believe your first one, I am no where near that ability yet. I love the color selection and the movement you have created.

Can hardly wait to see what you will do next.

Dkm 01-14-2010 02:45 PM

If this is a first....I can't wait to see the second.

Nitegama 01-14-2010 03:41 PM

Love the colors. It turned out georgous. Wish I was your sister in law.

Catherine Marie 01-14-2010 04:29 PM

OMG! You were born to quilt!
Didn't your eyes go buggy working on this???

MadQuilter 01-14-2010 04:44 PM

I love it when someone takes off the training wheels. That is amazing - particularly for a first attempt. Bargello is not one of my favorite methods but yours looks like a pixilated landscape with 2 rivers. Very pretty.

mjsylvstr 01-14-2010 06:11 PM

What is your day job??????

That is spectacular.....to say the least.

I am just now reading a pattern for bargello.........and wow.........

keep going and let's see your next original...
