daisydebby 01-29-2014 07:26 PM

Thank you for answering. I'm off to look up that web site and check out those baptist fan rulers. Surely they fit any long arm machine? I'll call them tomorrow. You did a fabulous job on your quilt:)

Great job for a newbie to the longarm. Just imagine what you will be able to do once you feel comfortable!!!

brendadawg 01-30-2014 05:23 AM

Very nice -- both the quilt and the quilting!

paulswalia 01-30-2014 05:28 AM

I've been reluctant to do Baptist Fan because I can't figure our how to do it without all those starts and stops. Could you tell us if this was a continuous design that allowed you to go edge to edge?

callen 01-30-2014 05:36 AM

Beautiful quilt & quilting.

It can be a continuous design if you backtrack over to the next curve but I found I wasn't consistent when going over existing stitches so I locked in my stitches at the start and end of each curve then I move over to the next curve. Once I complete the row I go back and cut the extra threads out, the extra threads on the backing are cut after I take the quilt off the frame. I found it produced a better result.

Thanks, remember if you haven't used any rulers you will need a ruler base for your machine, it allows the rulers to line up with the needle

Sharon, great job for your very 1st quilt on your new quilt machine. That only says you'll be doing even greater work as you get used to the machine. I'll be watching for your quilts from now on seeing how this 1st one came out super great.

By the way, what machine did you buy?
