My first quilt quilted on my new long arm machine

It was delivered just three weeks ago and giving I had never used a long arm machine I am pleased with the outcome. I used the half circle rulers to create Baptist Fans.

It is a beautiful quilt and that good old Baptist Fan quilting pattern is perfect with it. I have several TATWs that are waiting for quilting and I am going to use this pattern on them. Thanks for showing it.

What LAM did you get and how do you like it? Your work looks experienced!
peace

EDIT: I understand that your quilt is a Bargello but I think the Baptist Fan would work well on my TATWs.

QuiltnNan 01-29-2014 04:28 AM

Looks great and I give you loads of credit for doing ruler work on your very first LA adventure. First time I used rulers (templates) I found them awkward. Now I love using them but the first time was not fun and I have yet to do a whole quilt with nothing but ruler/template work. To do a whole quilt, first time out no less, using templates is very ambitious and you did a wonderful job. You certainly won't get trapped in the all over meander rut and I look forward to seeing what you do down the road.

WOW great first job, did you start and stop and cut thread at each curve, or was it a continous sew thru the whole fan..?

Cris 01-29-2014 05:59 AM

i purchased a Handi Quilter Fusion 24, and I love the extra large work area. I got better the more I did. Thanks

I locked the stitches at the start and end of each curve then moved to the next position. When I finished the row I went back and cut the threads. The bottom threads I cut after I took it off the frame. Thanks
