I'm not really a scallops person, because I'm so intimidated by them; but you inspire to try. Just beautiful!

I love this quilt! You did an excellent job on the whole thing! But, what impressed me the most was your consideration of the longarmer. You marked the top as to where you were cutting the scallops...you didn't cut them til after it was quilted. This made it easier on the longarmer. So many times quilters cut the scallops before hand & then the quilt is hard to load on our frames. We strive to keep the quilts square & uniform as we're quilting them & any help we can get from the piecer makes it easier on us. Thanks!

I get together to quilt with my longarmer so I checked with her to see how she would prefer to have it done. She does such a great job and has so many different patterns of quilting to choose from. She's the best!

This quilt turned out really nice. The scalloped edge is fantastic, really makes the quilt. I have just set aside some fabric to start on the binding for a scalloped edge quilt, sure hope mine turns out as nice as yours did.

pmrosie 06-15-2012 03:15 PM

Really, I love the scallops. I want so bad to do scallops.....and along you come with the answers! Thank you! By the way, really beautiful quilt, and thats coming from someone who hates pink

I've done one quilt with scalloped edges. I definitely won't be doing another until I figure out a better method. I'll be checking back to see all the great tips that are posted. Nice quilt!

Using the freezer paper to get the perfect scallop is a great idea! I'll add that to my bag of tricks. What a beautiful quilt you made with garage-sale fabric! Love the colors, pattern and especially the scalloped border. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful job! Your description makes it sound easy. Much better idea to quilt first and then cut the scallops. You are a genius!

kathyd 06-16-2012 04:43 AM

Great job. I especially love the bias binding. I love to do that with a stripe, it adds just a little something to the edge and yours just really pops now!
