I've often heard that too. But we had a speaker at our quild who came from Amish quilters and she said that crediting that saying to the Amish is not true. She said the Amish would never presume to think that they are so perfect that they need to "trick" God into thinking they made a mistake, and would do the very best on the quilt that they could - because he wants us to do our best. After all, it's only a mistake if you did NOT intend to make it. If you put it there on purpose, it's a design decision. So, don't worry about having to put a "mistake" in future guilts - you're not fooling God anyway!
And your quilt is lovely! Great job.

I missed it on the first study of the quilt. So it isn't that obvious unless you are looking at it. First quilt - oh my. You did a wonderful job.
