I have never quilted before, so I subscribed to Quilter's World Magazine online and low and behold, I was offered all these beautiful patterns from past issues. I found the "Angie's Star" by Jill Reber in the June, 2006 issue and decided to try it. It said Beginner, so I knew I was in! I had a blast doing my first quilt. The entire quilt is machine stitched. Just in time to celebrate the 4th of July! Thanks for looking.

Not many first time quilters would even attempt triangles. Good for you!

debcavan 06-05-2011 07:36 AM

Beginner yes, but experienced beginner. You did wonderfully And your next quilt will be faster and easier since you have learned so many things with this one. It looks just gorgeous. You did great fabric choices

You guys bring tears to my eyes. Honestly, I am an experienced sewer, but have never attempted a quilt. Your comments are so sweet. I am happy to have found this board since all of you are so encouraging, it makes me want to explore more. I am working on a table runner now and will post when I am finished. Thanks again for viewing my quilt.

oh, and thank you for mentioning your online subscription to Quilt World. I love that you get all 5 years of back issues with sign-up.

I wish I could take all the credit for fabric choices, but I tried to match as closely as possible the fabic that the original was made with. Although none was the same fabric, each choice was close to the original photo of the pattern. I will say, it taught me how to select the right fabric. This too is a learning experience and yes - it is addictive. I was always careful not to buy too much fabric when I was sewing all of my clothes, but quilting is a whole different animal! Now I know what a stash is, and I am liking it.
