my first quilt!
1 Attachment(s)
It's not anything spectacular like I have seen on here. But it's my first. I saw a picture of one that someone had named Squares of Color, no name to give credit too, but I liked it because I could just use my imagination and mainly it looked very easy to start with. I still have my outside edge to go, batting, back and binding. So I'm not there yet! Will post another pic when I'm done tho!
very colorful and well-done! Congratulations!
You're rounding 3rd base, headed for home!!! You'll have it finished soon!

Very beautiful, you did a great job.
Great quilt You can never go wrong with a 9-patch!!!
Well I think it's SPECTACULAR!!!
Looks great so far and very nice colors! I can't wait to see it all done!
Your sewing is great I think if you used the butterscotch for the horizontal strips you would tie it together better. It would really pop. Just a suggestion. Every quilt is special. You should see the messes I made but no one I ever gave them to knows the difference and they are used and loved.
Great choice for a first quilt - my first quilt is in my closet unfinished and has been there for about 40 years. I chose a very complicated design and wish that I would have picked a 9-patch like yours. I had lots of scraps leftover from sewing clothing from my children.
That is awsome. Congratulations.
Congratulations!! You did a great job!!
You did a great job. I like the 9 patch and have made about 12 of them. There are 101 different way to do them. Use your imagination and have fun with them. The sky is the limit. Can't wait to see it quilted.
Very cute quilt! You go girl!

I like it ~ it is spectacular. Very well done.

Looking good......you are going to have a beautiful first quilt! Keep up the good work and don't forget to show us when you are finished.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments and words of encouragment. I wish I woul have tried quilting yrs ago. I make things for the grandaughters, doll clothes, stuffed animals, all sorts of things for yrs. But just now found quilting is an obsession! I do wish I would have done butterscotch for all the sashing, but live and learn...I am doing the outside border in the same white and hopefully that will tie it in well and have a very wonderful patterned red for my binding. I am waiting on the appropriate foot for my machine to arrive for the quilting part, which I am going to attempt myself also!
Your quilt is great! I love all of the colors you used. This was a great choice for your first quilt -- no triangles and not too much seam matching -- good for you.
Here's some advice from a fellow quilter: Make a very simple quilting plan. You can always add complexity later. But if you start off doing complex quilting on one square, you have to do it on all of them! Ask me how long it took me to figure that out! Good luck! |
Congratulations your first quilt is fantastic! Love the colors! And your quilting it.....wow you are soooo ambitious I am in awe! I have only made 7 quilts but I am just now going to try quilting one for myself. And it's only a baby quilt not a bed size! You've inspired me!
Good variety of colors. Good to start out with a simpler pattern then be unhappy with a difficult one. I really like it and I'd say you are already hooked!
Congratulations on your first quilt. Now wasn't that fun? I say - keep going! Great job!
For sure am hooked. The quilting process will be new and am not going for a difficult or detailed design. Going to keep it simple, like the quilt! Have already found #2! I am for sure doing a postage stamp quilt! Just love the look, already have lots of 2" squares cut out...And fellow quilters: Advice taken, stored, loved and appriciated, so bring it on!!! Teresa

Very nice. I am really aware that your first is about 20 steps up from mine. Be proud of yourself. You have a right to.
