Your quilt is so pretty, and I love the way you used those colors. What is a perfect quilt?

mimiknoxtaylor 07-03-2012 04:06 PM

Great job & your colors are beautiful

maxnme01 07-03-2012 04:37 PM

YOU GO GIRL! Your quilt rocks.....

nstitches4u 07-03-2012 04:56 PM

I think you did a great job. Your quilt is very pretty. You are too hard on yourself.

My time 07-03-2012 04:59 PM

My dear I don't know what all your fuss was about.....this looks good! Geez Louise we should start a thread of our first quilts. I can guarantee many won't look this good.

darlin 07-03-2012 05:31 PM

great first quilt dont stop it looks good and they all get better with each one

emlee51 07-03-2012 07:08 PM

Practice makes almost perfect! I love the pattern...have one of those on my list. You did a great job!Don't be too hard on yourself.

captlynhall 07-03-2012 07:09 PM

You should be very proud. You took many little pieces of fabric and put them all together to make a lovely quilt. Enjoy the accomplishment, and think about all you have learned while doing it. Your next quilt will be better than the first, and your next better after that. Stitches made with love out weigh perfection any day.

It is far from perfect and I think that is what caused my hangup. It has lots of mistakes so please be gentle. ;-)

Linda

Looks good to me, besides if there are mistakes, we only learn from mistakes. Most of the time only the one quilting the quilt knows where the mistakes are, others don't usually notice them unless the viewer is going over ever stitch and block with a fine "tooth comb" or unless they are being judged in a show. Don't worry about them, just have fun, and you will know what you need to correct on your next quilt. Besides it's your quilt and you can always say that is just how you had it planned. Keep on with you good work dear quilter.

Oh Honey Never quilt and tell :) i thinks it very nice anyway

vintagemotif 07-03-2012 08:29 PM

Looks great to me. I always say that quilts come to life with some mistakes or flaws. Life isn't perfect and neither should a quilt. Awesome job for your first quilt!!!

Maria C 07-03-2012 08:38 PM

That lovely. I really like your scrappy look and you sound just like me when I started. I still haven't made the "perfect" quilt but no longer have any worries about this. I love thinking, creating, working with colour and fabric. Keep up the great work.

annthreecats 07-04-2012 01:05 AM

Love your quilt. Keep on sewing.

DebbE 07-04-2012 05:21 AM

Lovely! I didn't see any flaws - just admired the whole quilt. The way I look at it, only God is perfect, and I'm a 'work in progress', including my quilting. Honestly, when you give someone something that you made yourself, they are always in awe and very thankful -- that, and the good feelings you get from creating your pieces and giving those to others are the only important things, aren't they?

solstice3 07-04-2012 08:01 AM

very nice first quilt

jerilee 07-04-2012 12:33 PM

pretty quilt, great job...........

madamekelly 07-04-2012 02:23 PM

Sweetie, that is waaaay better than my first quilt. You should be proud of it. Nice colors, great fabrics, and overall a very pretty quilt. Just for the record, most of us are terribly critical of our own work. It is part of being human. Accept all that you learned from it, and make another one. You will be surprised at the result. We really do get better with each one. Welcome to quiltaholics.

happymrs 07-04-2012 03:01 PM

Your quilt looks great! Just remember, this is a hobby & suppose to be fun. Don't worry about perfection, just do your best & enjoy the journey!...

redquilter 07-04-2012 03:18 PM

It's beautiful! Love the colors and the pattern. You did a great job and if there are mistakes, only you know about them.

1screech 07-04-2012 08:05 PM

A quilt is good if you hang it on the porch and drive or ride your horse by going 20 MPH. This one looks great to me and I love the reds and pinks.

Jammin' Jane 09-18-2012 02:05 PM

It looks wonderful!
You learn everyday when you quilt! Keep up the good work! :)

ube quilting 09-18-2012 02:59 PM

Right now I want you to go to the dictionary, find the word - perfect, get a pencil and cross it out. How many things we never do because we are not perfect. Never sing, never dance, never plant a garden.

GIVE IT UP and enjoy the doing!

Your quilt is wonderful. It has great color, well balanced and scrappy all at the same time. Wonderful!
peace

GingerK 09-18-2012 03:11 PM

OH MY!!! ube quilting, you just said it all!! I think I am going to print out your answer in HUGE letters and hang it on my sewing room wall!!

Sweetie, your quilt is beautiful and waaaaay better than my first one. There is an old Persian proverb--if something is perfect, it is too good for Man and may only be used by the gods. That is why woven rugs always have a small imperfection purposely added.
Even if my quilts' imperfections are not 'purposely added', I want them to be used and abused and loved by my fellow human beings.

Dal Lady 09-18-2012 04:07 PM

I too was afraid to quilt because I was overly concerned with my inability to meet the high standards I set for myself, but once I realized that the things I saw as imperfections were totally invisible once placed on a bed, tossed over a couch, or draped around someone you love. So, lighten up on yourself like I did and just enjoy the process. Your quilt is lovely.

quiltjoey 09-18-2012 04:28 PM

Hi Linda: I struggled with the "perfection complex" for so many years. I began learning to quilt about 4 years ago. Couldn't use a rotary cutter and still have problems with that. A scant quarter inch? What?? I have finally learned that quilting is a skill that is to be learned as one continues to quilt. Each quilt I work on, I am striving to do "better". But after all these years I am letting go of perfectionism. I believe the closest I get to perfection is when I am on my knees praying to God the Father and Jesus the Son. Your quilt is lovely and great job well done for a first quilt. Keep on keeping on...

Cybrarian 09-18-2012 04:51 PM

What an awesome first quilt! This shows you are adventurous in your choices- that's great! You will keep challenging yourself, and best of all now you can say "I'm a quilter"!

QM 09-18-2012 04:55 PM

It looks good. None our quilts are completly free of errors, if someone want to be a nit picker. On a bet from DH, I went around a display of APQS quilts and found at least one error in each. My first quilt wasn't anywhere near that good. Please accept that you are human, therfore fallible. I look forward to seeing more quilts from you.

lynnie 09-18-2012 04:59 PM

Looks vreat to me

DebbE 09-18-2012 07:19 PM

Are you kidding? If this is your first quilt, you're a natural! YOU are your worst critic - everyone else will marvel over your creations thinking they could never do it themselves.....its a lovely quilt!

Judyth 09-19-2012 05:13 AM

You did a fine job. The next one will come a bit easier to you and each one after that will get better and better. Don't give up.

QUILTNMO 09-19-2012 05:14 AM
