My First Quilt

3 Attachment(s)
I finished my very first quilt yesterday! It's far from perfect, but I love the way it turned out. The quilt was inspired by CarsonToo on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/transaction/35425343), and the binding was inspired by Rita at Red Pepper Quilts (http://www.redpepperquilts.com). I can't wait to make another one!

The colors are most accurate in the first picture.

Great job. Sounds like you got the bug. Glad it is the quilting bug and not the flu bug that is going around.

QuiltnNan 01-04-2013 07:18 AM

Beautiful! I love your color choices and your use of solids. You must have some sewing experience if this is your first quilt. :)

Thank you! I decided to make a quilt so I could learn how to sew! Prior to making it, the only sewing experience I had was stitching semi-straight lines on paper. I read lots of tutorials, looked at tons of pictures, and watched youtube videos when I ran into trouble. :)

I didn't use a pattern, but I'm sure there are tons floating around out there. Maybe try looking up 60 Degree Triangle or Pyramid quilt patterns?

I just decided how big I wanted my finished quilt (49" x 63") and triangles to be, and the ladies at my local quilt boutique helped me figure out how much fabric I'd need.

Thank you, mighty!

Thank you, Texan! I drove myself crazy trying to figure out how to piece the back. I hope you share pictures of your finished quilt; I'd love to see it!

Thank you! Yes, I quilted it myself - I pinned it really well and rolled it up so I could maneuver it through my sewing machine.
