My first quilt was also a wallhanging. I made it in 1988

Your work is beautiful. You have a great eye for color and combining fabrics. I'm so glad you're enjoying- and using your first lap quilt. I'm still using my first one, too. Although it has many mistakes, it shows how far I've come and reminds me of the passion I first felt when I started quilting. My philosophy is that each quilt is a snapshot of what I'm capable of at the time. As long as you continue to challenge yourself, you're learning and mastering the art.
Welcome to the board. Thanks a lot !! For the lap quilt...I don't think I will fix it...it is telling a story with this defect..and I think I love it just for that ;-) exactly as you said...it is there to tell me how far I can go... |
Thank you for sharing this work. Keep it up!!!

Everyone has to start somewhere. The important thing is that you are improving and, maybe more importantly, you are having fun and going forward. I recommend spending time with You Tube videos - especially Jenny Doan's videos for Missouri Star Quilt Co.

You're doing fantastic. Your wall hanging in not anything I would have started with (I would have been too intimidated to begin with that project). I love your coasters & the way you quilted them. The baby quilt is just precious. I love owls (we have owl boxes in our trees). I've been sewing since I was an early teen & picked up quilting about 15 years ago & I still make the craziest mistakes. Just today I was making a set of pillowcases & cut the body of the case too short. So in order to correct it I made the cuff bigger. I'm still trying to keep my mistakes to myself because most people would never know the mistake even if they are looking straight at it. Keep up the good work! I'm so proud of you!
