Here's some pics of a flannel rag quilt that I finished last night. I picked out 6 different flannel fabrics and just used a simple block design for it. The unfinished blocks were 7" square, so my finished blocks are 5" square. The entire quilt measures 50" x 60". I used a square of Warm & Natural batting in each block as well, so this thing is WARM. After about 10 or 15 minutes I was starting to feel a little too warm. So should be good for a cold winter night. :)

Wonderful job, Eddie!

A tut please. I know the way you 'teach' i will better understand how to make one of these beautiful quilts such as yours. I will be using Homespun fabrics I am collecting.
Your colors amaze me. You have a good eye. |
So it seems to work best with flannels? It really is pretty..did I already say that? If not, sorry, I meant to. It's just so lovely...all the colors and the texture!

|
Very pretty!

wow, Eddie, nice! Very nice!! tute please... How many layers of fabric did you use? just the top and warm and natural and a back, or are there multiple layers, seems very fringy. I think it a lot. My DH would love one. He's really cold blooded, so I bet if I put minky on the back, he'd be in heaven. tee hee
|
I have got to make one of those! Beautiful!
|
LOVE your work!
Okay, is it one piece of flannel, batting, one piece of flannel as backing? Or did you layer more? Also, what is this about special rag quilting scissors? Need to know! :) |
Gorgeous as always Eddie!!! I can't believe how fast you turn out your quilts...do you sleep? LOL JK
My sister in law bought the scissors to do the rag quilts also..so if I make one I can just borrow hers instead of buying my own. Thought that was a great offer :D Thank you for sharing :D Thanks for the compliments on my things also :D I tried to make them look good but didn't know for sure  |

Beautiful colors! Looks very cozy...
Thanks for the tip on the scissors, too. I made a small rag quilt once and after all the clipping, I'd had it! I'll have to find these scissors and give it another try. The right tool sure makes the job easier.... |
Good job!
thank you for the inspiration! I need to get mine finished! I can't imagine cutting all that fringe! The die cut that I bought for my machine cuts the fringe before you sew. Glad the scissors worked though! Rose Hall |
that is so very pretty

no batting just denium an flannel. But that jokers warm just the way it is.I like mine to protect couch from puppys or forpicnic blanket.I almost got shot with one pair of blue jeans I put in it.It was a pair of my hubbies old jeans that my son had gotten big enough to wear.he asked were they where an I started pointing out squares in quilt .son wasn't happy with mom. |
Very very nice. Love the colors and the fringes.
|
Absolutely Beautiful !!! Beautiful colors too. I love it. I will have to make one, maybe by the end of this year.

Another fabulous quilt Eddie!!
|
great job it's so pretty. I've never cut my over 1/2" I like the look of yours.
|
wow...looks great
|
Do you sew an X in the center? It is beautiful. I have made a couple baby quilts in this manner and they do go up fast. HARD on the hands with the clipping, for me.
