This was my first one...then I discovered Jelly Rolls, they will work great for the French Braid...

nanabirdmo 10-19-2007 03:30 PM

Oh my goodness. I absolutely adore this quilt.
how hard is this to do? it is lovely and the colors are so elegant.
good work :!:

jbsstrawberry 10-19-2007 03:40 PM

Another beautiful quilt!!! My goodness you were truly blessed with talent!!! Thanks again for sharing another of your treasures!

Shadow Dancer 10-19-2007 04:11 PM

Thank you for your kind words ... I quilt for the pure joy and love of it. My goal is that before I die, every one of my friends will have one of my quilts....I keep making new friends so the way I look at it, I'm going to be quilting a long time... :)

French braid is not hard to do at all ... it's a half log cabin block and it goes together really quick. I made this one while my husband was away for a week so I moved my sewing into the dining room and whenever I had a spare minute I'd add to the braids, before I knew it, I was done... :)

mimisharon 10-19-2007 04:38 PM

That is just beautiful! You do lovely work and I'm sure your friends appreciate you!

That's stunning!! I've made one of these quilts and I love this pattern. I'm crazy about the colors you used. Just beautiful!! :)

I found it a bit challenging myself, but I'm determined to make another one for myself. My new DIL got the first one. :) There's a picture of mine around here somewhere...

Cathe 10-20-2007 07:58 AM

I like that! Those colors give it a southwest kind of style.

Virginia H. Cunningham 10-20-2007 09:58 PM

Shadow Dancer 10-22-2007 12:23 PM

Hi estherblair,

The center blocks are 8 3/4" and the strips are 2 1/2".... it's really easy and it goes fast. :)

I have made a table runner like that. Are the brades quilted when you finish? The table runner was. If so what thickness and kind of batting did you use? Thanks..Sharon

chatty cathy 10-29-2007 02:12 PM

Soooo jealous! It is too beautiful for words.

Darn it, now I have to put that on my "to do" list too!

sheliab12 11-12-2007 05:35 PM

Beautiful and different. Where can we get the pattern. Is that the real name of the pattern.

blahel 11-12-2007 11:43 PM

Everytime i have time to look at the messages on this board there are more quilts of yours done!! you are incredible and i love all your quilts...you are so talented, i will just have to go through all the things you have done everytime i need inspiration for a new project....

joy 11-14-2007 12:54 AM

Great work..... how many jelly rolls do you need for a single, also a queen, please?

Shadow Dancer 11-14-2007 06:42 AM

Thank you all for your wonderful compliments. :)

Joy, I didn't use jelly rolls for this quilt, I bought fat quarters for the braids themselves and yardage for the sashing and borders. The center blocks were a fabric I had in my stash. :)

Izy 11-14-2007 09:23 AM

Have to say, this is a fantastic quilt, I am very impressed, love the colours too!!

in2stitchin 11-14-2007 08:23 PM

Your quilt is amazing! I know you gave a rather simplified explaination of it's construction, but I'm still scratchin' my head.

It really is beautiful!

Beautiful quilt! Where did you find the pattern? Are there directions?

Tiffany 01-29-2008 03:58 PM

SD - that is simply gorgeous! I can't wait to see your second one. Now I know I'm going to have to go buy the book. I swore no more pattern books, only technique books, but I have to make an exception with this one!
~Tiffany

barnbum 01-29-2008 05:44 PM

Is that pattern from the French Braid Quilts book?

Shadow Dancer 01-29-2008 07:57 PM

It's from the book French Braid Quilts by Jane Hardy Miller.

barnbum 01-30-2008 02:25 AM

Thanks Shadow!! :D
