From my hand-quilting class
2 Attachment(s)
This class was also taught by Leslie Hickland.
I had hand-quilted three other quilts before this class - but I have not - and had not - been able to achieve tiny stitches. She said "even is more important than tiny" - so I have decided to go with that and attempt to retain whatever sanity I may have left. Why I placed that stencil where I did is beyond me. The first picture is the front - the back is where I decided I did not like the way I traced the stencil. I have no idea of what to do with this - but the teacher was complimentary. |
Your work is beautiful!

Beautiful stitches!!! something to be proud of
Wow. That is beautiful. I can't even image myself being able to do that. You sure learned your lesson. I bet you received an "A". BrendaK

It's terrific! It looks nicely centered to me. I have been told that we usually our own worst critics.
I usually do one stitch at a time. I have not had much "success" with the "rocking" method.
I also cut my thread about 36 inches long - go 18 inches in one direction - then bury the thread - and then go the other direction with the "tail" and then bury that end. I hate burying the thread ends. If you have a chance to take a class from Leslie Hickland, I highly recommend her. I did learn a lot from that class. She provided the fabric (muslin) and the batting for the class. |
Beautiful stitches. Wish I could hand quilt but it's not in my future.
Lovely! I wish I could stitch that well.
Beautiful work. Keep it up.

I think you piece looks great. Your stitches are so even. Good job! |
Well done!
You did an amazing job!!! It's really nice!
you did a great job
Your hand quilting looks fantastic.
Beautiful hand quilting. You should be making quilts.
I use to but, when I learned, on my own, to machine quilt that was the end. I am trying to use my yards and yards of fabrics. I would never get even close if I hand quilted. Since 2002 I have probably made about 300 quilts. Most have been donated, some given away. |
Job well done!!
Beautiful hand quilting. Wish I could still do that.
Love it. Nice work.
That is awesome!
beautiful. You did great work
Absolutely gorgeous stitches. Years ago, I did a similar thing in class and turned it into a pillow. It has an honored place in my LR.
What I would suggest to do with this is to frame it. It is lovely.
Beautiful quilting. Could you make a pillow top?
Very pretty and I was told the same thing when I took my only hand quilting class: Make your stitches the same length.
Wow, such perfect stitches. Great job!
Beautiful Stitching!!!
Your stitching is beautiful! A+
I agree with the teacher that even stitches are more important than tiny ones. I also do one stitch at a time and don't care for the look of tiny stitches. Your work is beautiful!
OHHHHH BEAR! Those stitches are gorgeous! And they look plenty tiny to me! Everything looks so even and meticulous. Just looking at it I feel relaxed because your stitches are so neat and tidy. Isn't it funny how looking something skillfully done can soothe us? Excellent work! You get an A+ from me!
Beautiful stitching. I have a friend that took a hand-stitching class last fall at DM and she got so much out of it. Congratulations on such beautiful work.
you did a great job@!!!!
Great job! Wish mine looked like that.
Looks great to me. Will you do more of it?
I love it. It looks so neat and pretty!
Very nicely done. I would be proud if mine looked that good.
That's awesome hand quilting!!! My favorite way to quilt but I'm learning FMQ. I do the rocking method. You have done yours with great precision. If I did one stitch at a time I don't think I could get it to look that nice. Do you use a thimble and if so what kind? I've only been able to use the leather ones.
Very pretty! You could make a pot holder with it. Or center it in a quilt maybe.
Wow, your hand quilting is amazing.
I don't know from nothin'...but I should hope the teacher was complimentary! Not sure how your stitches could be much better...
Great job! And I agree with the teacher, no one will notice the stitches but sure will see a crooked line.
