This quilt gave me problems from the start. I cut the strips for a traditional rail fence, with 3 in finished "rails". I forgot to add the seam allowance to the strips. I did realize my mistake before I started sewing. So I cut the dark green strips to go with the light green. Not thinking about anything but getting it done, I didn't realize the "design" change till the top was finished. The blocks float!!! I really like the way it turned out. So do my DD's, and they don't really care for pink. They said it looks like a watermellon. You're seeing it with the binding clips still on because I'm leaving for Knoxville tomorrow. I won't have access to a computer while I'm gone. It's for my neice who's in the hospital. The Quilt Police have already told me not to give it to her in the hospital!! "It'll be stolen". So, I'll make her another quilt!!!!
I ran short on thread, and no one around here had more of the varigated green, so I used dark green on the back. It looks black next to the black and white back! Another "Happy Accident". |
Love it. Great job.

How cool!
Love it.

Awesome!!! What a great accident :D:D:D
Love it!
There are no mistakes in quilting, just design options.
What a wonderful "happy accident". I love the way it floats. It is very striking!
Beautiful quilt
that is cute, i like it too
That is so sad that one has to worry about a quilt being stolen out of a hospital. I cannot imagine what a bad reputation that must give the nurses since they are the main ones in and out of hospital rooms.
The quilt is lovely. |
really nice!
love the backing fabric! |
very cute, and glad you had a very happy accident!
Looks fantastic! I love those colors together.
If you are going to have an accident, you sure want the results to look like that. It looks great.
great job lovely colors
That looks so cool! Great quilting too. :D

The optical illusion is great. When someone wraps a quilt around themselves it's like being hugged. Go ahead a give it to her. She'll get attention from everyone when they see it.
Really pretty colors. Do the binding clips work better than pins? If so I'll have to get some.

oooh...a new designer! Get a copyright 'cause it's gorgeous!
That was a lucky accident...its an eye dazzler now! Good job... and prayers for the recipient...
Wonderful!
Be VERY sure to put her name on it where it
can be easily seen. Sadly, whomever told you it might be stolen is correct. As a 28+ year hospital volunteer, I know that is correct. Things grow legs in the middle of the night and follow people home. |
Very pretty accident. She will love it.
ooooohhhhhh, pretty!
Aren't serendipitous results fun!
