My Hunter's Star Progress

I've made some progress and I'm pretty happy with it so far. The stars are time consuming...so many HSTs!

Jane Quilter 05-16-2016 09:49 PM

This technique is much better and faster than the rapid fire techniques. Beautiful points. great arrows. Great Job!

Quilter 65 05-17-2016 03:57 AM

This is so beautiful.

NJ Quilter 05-17-2016 04:12 AM

You're doing great. As others have said - perfect points. It's going to be beautiful when complete.

ManiacQuilter2 05-17-2016 04:33 AM

I try to avoid HSTs because of the bulk they create. White and red makes a stunning quilt.

Jordan 05-17-2016 06:05 AM

That is going to be beautiful. Wonderful start.

Grandma Bonnie 05-17-2016 06:36 AM

Thank you. I haven't decided yet. Sadly my piecing skills are better than my quilting skills. I'm going to have to put some serious thought into it.

It's really coming together. Isn't it exciting to see the arrows start to appear? I did a twin sized for a cousin and is wife last fall. In the middle of it, I was pretty discouraged at how long each star takes, but managed to finish it in a couple of weeks. They were so surprised and pleased when we presented it to them.

Karamarie 05-18-2016 04:22 AM

That's going to be a beautiful two-color quilt.

tessagin 05-18-2016 04:28 AM

Looks great.

nls 05-18-2016 04:32 AM

Great progress.

mjmachin 05-18-2016 05:05 AM

I love this pattern and red and white are my favorite, so you can send this my way when it is completed!!! You are doing great work. Can't wait to see it completed, it will be beautiful!!

jmoore 05-18-2016 06:01 AM

Looks like you're making great progress. Keep up the good work.

Ariannaquilts 05-18-2016 06:37 AM

I am making a red and cream quilt and would like to know how large will your quilt top be? Trying to see how long it takes you to complete yours.

Suz 05-18-2016 08:19 AM

There are a lot of tutes on Pinterest on making HST. Since you have so many to make in the same fabrics, check them out and use the one that allows making many identicals. This should speed up the process.

JanieH 05-18-2016 08:22 AM

Your quilt is really progressing - love the red and white.

I am starting one in yellow and white this weekend. I hope it looks half as good as yours!

It will be approximately 76X84 inches when finished.

Thanks, Suz! I will check them out.

The arrows definitely motivate me. I'm trying to make at least 3 star blocks per day. There are 28 of them!

Mimi Sews 05-18-2016 10:44 AM

Thank you so much, everyone! :-)

QUILTNMO 05-18-2016 11:12 AM

looks great!!!

Jingle 05-18-2016 12:41 PM

Your work is amazingly good. It will be a beautiful quilt when it is finished.

slstitcher 05-18-2016 01:11 PM

Can't wait to see it finished. Someday I'd like to do one. Have to find the time.

twinkie 05-18-2016 01:12 PM

I just learned how to do the Hunters star. I made a scrappy one that was 7" square and had 60 pieces of fabric in it. However mine is not perfect. Yours look so good.

indymta 05-18-2016 02:19 PM

I agree...it's looking good.

meyert 05-18-2016 02:22 PM

it looks great. Is this the MSQC method? I want to make one too. I love the red and white
