I finally got the top done. It was a pain to assemble. I won't need any light in the bedroom, it'll brighten it up.
How should I bind it and what to use for backing? This is a Karen combs pattern, 80 x 80. I just had to make it, now that I did, I don't know what to do with it. As for backing, I have a lot of fabric left over and would like to make a scrappy back, maybe. How would I do that? I am not in the mood for small pieces right now. Any suggestions? WOW - you did a wonderful job! Maybe is you used big squares of each color for the back?
|
Nice and bright and colorful. I like it.
|
Gorgeous!!!!
I'm not an expert, but I have an idea. Why not do a large patchwork for the back. Make the squares the same size as those blocks would be (all of the oranges added together for example) and then do the binding in a color of your choice that comes from the top. What color is the bedroom??? If it's green, use a green, etc. |
oooo, love that bold quilt!
|
Oooooh, neat looking quilt top. Good job.
|
Gorgeous!!!!!
|
Oh Wow!
|
You said you don't know what to do with the quilt! I have an idea - send it to me! It's beautiful. As for the back, I would do as someone else suggested - take your leftover fabric and cut large squares.

Beautiful..I love the colors

Gorgeous and you have done a really good job on it.

My friend had this idea for a backing: a big square bordered by a second fabric. You could use two or three borders...
|
I got a message from her saying that Blank Quilting no longwr make her fabrics. However, many are still available on her website. I only use the green from her selection, I ran all over town trying to match some of the others.

WOW!!! Don't show that to my DD, she'd want me to make her one! You'll definitely wake up every morning with a smile on your face, how could you be sad with such a happy quilt?
|
That looks incredible. any of the colors on the front would look nice on the back.
|
I will just add my "WOW" to all the others

How pretty! Bright and bold, my favorite kind. Are for the backing, I found an idea I liked once and saved the pictures. A woman said when she made pillows and things, she'd use the scraps to make the backing. Just an idea.

That is so pretty. Love it.

I made the same quilt (well, mine was smaller :D ) and for the binding, I just used that fabric. It looks cool since it's the 4 different shades, so I only had, maybe 7 strips of fabric but it looked like 28 because of the changing shades. It seemed appropriate to do the same binding as the quilt

Here, this is mine (sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread!) so you can see the binding

Black binding is my favorite with rainbow colors. Not too wide just enought to frame. Use 2 1/4" strips
Very pretty, I like the brightness |

I have some questions. Your binding, exactly what is it? Small strips of each of the fabrics? Another question I have. If I use leftover material, how am I going to quilt the front and not hit on seams in the back? What did you use for backing? I am a quilter who cannot deal with UFOs. I work on a quilt until it is done and sometimes get really frustrated about it. |
I love this quilt.
Where can I find the pattern, is it in one of her books? |

Wow colorful! The illusion quilt looks like you better pay attention while piecing it or it could get off quickly.
|
WOW  that is fabulous :-D i love it!!!
that seems like it would be confusing to put together. maybe black on the other side for when you go to sleep.LOL those colors would otherwise keep you awake. |
Very Nice!!!!!!!
|
You could just cut 10.5 inch squares out of your leftover fabric and sew them together, either matching points or not. That would use up a lot of fabric but not take much time. The top is beautiful. I think I would use the dark green to bind it.

I really love it. I am making by bargello quilt top,and decided I had enough fabric left to make another quilt to put on the back. I downloaded hanky, panky quilt pattern from the internet, and am now making it to put on the back, will post when I have it done. It will be my first complete reversable quilt. I alway sew together what ever material , I have left from the front, for the back, I and my quilt club love patchwork backs.

LOVE the fabrics, they are stunning!
|

|
