I can't help but find these fabrics that just scream..."make me into a one block wonder!"...So I do :)

This is my 2nd one I've done and I've wanted to do one with some kind of fish in them. Found this at Joann's today! This is what I have done so far and I can't wait to be creative with this one.

Happy Quilting :)

Quiltforme 01-23-2011 07:25 PM

Oh I would have such a hard time cutting this beautiful fabric up!! Very cool!!!

Quilter7x 01-23-2011 07:25 PM

WOW, that is so cool!

littlehud 01-23-2011 07:26 PM

It's so pretty already. What great fabric to use.

Deb watkins 01-23-2011 07:30 PM

The more I see of these, the more I want to do one, but even with the posted tutorial, I am just soooo chicken to try this.

hperttula123 01-23-2011 07:42 PM

That is awesome!!! Can't wait to see it completed.

LUANNH 01-23-2011 08:21 PM

Wow you would never know it was fish, Ilove the look of the blocks. Can you make this with the kalidascope ruler, and what size do you make them. LuAnn

amma 01-23-2011 10:41 PM

The blocks are awesome :D:D:D

olebat 01-24-2011 02:35 AM

I'm psyched. So much movement! As much as I stalk the aisles at JA, I haven't seen this one. Will go on line. Another one I saw that was cool was the pink flamingos carried by JA. I wondered who would buy and use such horrid fabric until I saw a girl at my guild make a OBW with them. It was striking. The fish colors appeal to me more. Glad you posted.

k3n 01-24-2011 03:55 AM

This is beautiful! The curves in the fish give so much movement in the finished blocks. I'll be watching your progress with interest - I have some koi fabric to OBW but it's not as bright as this one. :-D

Me too Deb. I just know I would mess up!

grendelskin 01-24-2011 05:10 AM

Love it! It's going to be sooo cool! Deb and clem, I found the scariest part to be the cutting; you can take a class to get over that hump as I did, or cheat by buying panels, which make finding and aligning the repeats very easy.

4girlsmimi 01-24-2011 05:16 AM

Wow! I've just got to try the OBW. Thanks for sharing this.

cutebuns 01-24-2011 08:04 AM

That is awesome! I love it!

OKLAHOMA PEACH 01-24-2011 08:06 AM

Ok So I finished getting all my hexagons made...now I just need to lay them out the way I want! This is what I have so far...but I'll let it sit for a few days and see what looks right!

QM 01-28-2011 12:01 AM

Looking good so far.

purple_butterfly 01-28-2011 01:59 AM

Looks great

k3n 01-28-2011 02:59 AM

It's looking beautiful! I am often accused of having a vivid imagination but to me, those koi now look like chilli peppers!

Monstookie 01-28-2011 12:42 PM

May I ask where you got the fabric? Its beautiful....I've been looking for a really pretty Koi fabric.

Do you know the name and maker?

Also, your OBW is stunning.

daisey 01-28-2011 03:22 PM

Oh how pretty!

Elisabrat 01-28-2011 03:30 PM

That is way to fun! I would have worried about cutting their heads off but you know.. it makes a heck of a great quilt. Its amazing how much more the blue shows once you have repositioned the fabric this way.

JoAnnGC 01-28-2011 03:32 PM

Gorgeous colors...can't wait to see the finished product :)

ann clare 01-28-2011 03:33 PM

brenda21 01-28-2011 03:42 PM

I got it from Joanns. Not sure of the name exactly! On the salvage it just says made exclusively for joann fabrics.

Wow, you're quick! It is such fun spinning those little triangles to make neat designs. I love the OBWs that have three dimensional cubes in them. Do you plan to try one or two of those?

WOW! Love it!

jojosnana 01-28-2011 08:20 PM

So I worked on this one some more. Adding the 3 dimensional cubes. I'm starting to like it more now! Might add just a few more...gives me more practice!

And a big thank you to k3n for helping me with the cubes :)

they look a little wonky here because I just have them pinned on there :)

That is looking good! Those cubes really add to it.
